After thinking about this a little, you more than likely are using a floating license. If it is a network issue, double check the system that's hosting your RLM server and make sure it's up to date from a system stand point. I've had a few random incidents over the past 3 months or so when the license validation told me there were no licenses left. I knew that couldn't really be the case, so I ended up stopping and restarting the RLM service on the machine hosting the RLM server. Perhaps a simple restart of the RLM service could solve the issue. Also, depending on when you installed Maxwell, there may be a slightly newer version of the RLM software. Originally, I installed it on my farm over a year and half ago. Since that time, a newer install file became available in the customer portal on Next Limit's web site. I downloaded and installed that and have yet to see the locked license issue.
Just some thoughts. Networking issues have multiple points of possible failure, so hopefully it's not some unpredictable bug in your network stack somewhere (a switch, a NIC, the drivers, the applications using the network, etc.). Thanks Lujo!
