Hi Polyxo,

So far, the solid white background result you are getting can only be achieved exporting channels and with a bit of post work.

But in the next version that is about to be released (Maxwell 3.1) you will be able to easily get floating shadows and floating reflections over a photo or solid color background, so no post work will be needed.
It will be first integrated in Fire. To get it on the final Production renderer we will need to wait for the 3.2 version.

But it is almost here :wink:

Hello Gareth,

I don`t know, if it helps, but check geometry to be sure that not intersect. If Your model is NURBS, make fillet on every edge (it can be very small fillet radius), and make facets on gem with some very small curvature - it can catch reflections from more directions and focus some light to caustic inside gem.
And as other people suggest, contrast, high key or low key lighting is more interesting.

Hehe, I had finally learned how to get this done only with lighting - essentially by doing what's required to create a High Key photo in real life.
This feature sure will help greatly with Studio renderings!
