How is it with Maxwell 3 for workflow? How long to get up to speed with it? Does anyone here use it?

They offer a demo and also have some nice videos showing how it works together with Maxwell Studio. Should be plenty of info to get an idea of its workflow.

Incorrect. Many types of lights can be simulated with HDR emitters for interior scenes.

Ok, cool, well I bought it last week so I can play with it now.

I,m now doing an animation shot with HDR Light Studio 4, is an interior with two characters, it´s really fast 2-3 min per frame, sl13,but the noise has like a something like flikering or may be is only noise but with a little bite of post production I think it would be decent.

My question is somebody works some animation with hdri? and if it is yes.... you have this noise movement? or it´s only that i need to go up in sl to clen up all the noise?

Can you show an example of how it flickers? Because noise in Maxwell from frame to frame is not static, it should give the impression of high ISO film noise, which moves with every frame so you shouldn't get a typical GI flicker type noise that stays static between a few frames then moves in a frame, then stays static again and so on....

And if you need the same noise pattern in every frame, you should set CPU Id.

May be is what you say Mihai... this experience said me that the render times go tree times up with emitters but HDRI needs a little bite more SL to clean up... to be both in the same noise level....

Somewhere I read that the hight render times are when you mix emitters with other kind of lighting...you know about it? and I see that fi you put a Blured HDRI in the Lighting Slot it produces less noise...someone Have some theory about it?

Ok, cool, well I bought it last week so I can play with it now.

I am also wanting to buy the HDR Light Studio 4 program but I don't know exactly which version to order. I need to use it only with Maxwell 3.

Also, is it really of any use if you know how to make good Maxwell emitters. ? I don't know how to do this very well which is why I am wanting to buy the HDR Light Studio 4 program.
I thought it might be faster for me to learn how to use the Light Studio than learn how to make emitters that can do the same thing. ??

In other words, is this a program that experienced Maxwell users would find useful or is is just for those of us who want a more convenient way to do something we could do just as well with Maxwell if we knew how ?

Hello,

You would need the full/standalone version of HDR Light Studio. Its plugin will allow you to connect directly to MR Studio. Alternatively, you could use HDRLS within your modeller if that is also one of those with a supported plugin.

Emitters in Maxwell are not the same as HDR as they have to have physical geometry. HDR images are used to give a high level of lighting information through an emitter or sky to create much greater detail in highlights, reflections and shadows. There is much that you can do with lighting within Maxwell to reach your desired goal. HDR Light Studio helps when you want a higher level of detail, above and beyond what a renderer can give you with its own lights; or when you can't reach out and find a suitable HDR to accurately represent your scene.

Is "HDRI Light Studio 4" compatible by live plugin with Maxwell 3?
On compatibility page http://www.hdrlightstudio.com/workflows ... ell_studio there is only mentioned Maxwell Render 2.7.2.
As Black Friday sale is close, I need someone to confirm that everything works smoothly

It is completely compatible, although some features are not present in the plugin due to the Maxwell viewport not being as integrated as the stand alone version. Meaning in the stand alone version you can click directly on parts were you want light to hit and it will be moved to hit that spot (lightpaint) -- Maxwell does not currently support this feature.
