Hi ,
In a few days from now I'm going to be installing maxwell on another machine . I have one machine currently installed with maxwell , and my license is of the floating type .When installing on the new machine , do I just install everything rlm included so it can also act as a license server if its networked to my current machine? .

I could be working on either pc as the main machine depending on circumstances. Most likely the newer one though.

Yes Mihai, but it doesn't quite answer my question ......

I wan't the ability to be able to launch maxwell from either machine , they way I read it at the moment is that this will mean that both computers will always have to be networked for that to happen.

If that's the case I want to move the RLM server to the new machine.(So I'm assuming I'll do a full uninstall rlm included from my current machine then reinstall without the rlm aspect ...correct? then install the full plus rlm on the new machine).

No, you don't need to install RLM on all your computers.

You only need to install it on one of them, as the docs clearly say.

So you want to move this RLM server to this second machine? This wasn't clear at all from your first question. Then yes, simply uninstall it on the current one, and install it on the new one. I'm still not sure though why it isn't fine to keep in on your current computer....

To add to this in case in the future you want to install it also on a laptop you'll be travelling with so it won't necessarily be connected to your network all the time: In this case follow the install procedure as usual and install also the RLM server on this laptop, choosing the second licensing option in the activator. Our licenses allow you to activate it also for a laptop for practical reasons.

Thanks for your reply Mihai, it could be just my confusion over how the rlm works.
The reason why I wanted to move the license server to the newer machine is that it's the more powerful of the two and I might not even switch the old one on unless this the new one is tied up rendering for a longer length of time. If I leave the rlm where it is I will have to turn the old one on just to give the license to the newer machine?which seems a waste of energy to do that if that's the only reason to switch it on, although I'm sure at times I will network them.
