Hello,

I have been trying to render this quick image and i get some color dots on the left concrete (right next to the elevator glass), and also on the top left of the yellow panels. I fixed the colors dots on the metal of the elevator (simply by readjusting my texture) but i'm still stuck with those dot spots i just mentioned above.

i don't know what I did wrong … any ideas, suggestions? thx

I'm using a glass from the RAL library that comes with MaxwellRender tutorials (from Jason Maranto). I'm a beginner… Where do you think I should do the changes to avoid this effect?

To disable the dispersion, I found it to the root of my material glass… but where can I do it globally? As you can see, there is some noisy pattern on my yellow shiny material too. Do you you think I only have to turn off the dispersion for the glass material or for the yellow material too?

If my render is already running, is it possible to solve this without restarting the whole thing again? If I change the properties of my material in Studio, will it affect the running render?

No, you will have to start a new render.

Those RAL Glass materials should definitely not be used for architectural glass -- it was meant more for glass art, vases, and other types of decorative/colored glass objects.

Almost anytime you are working with architectural glass in Maxwell you should use AGS instead -- my personal preference is for the AGS clear formulation. AGS will render much faster than real dielectric glasses... particularly glass with dispersion enabled.

For the record dispersion is a (very beautiful) real world effect of glass, some types more than others... but it is not something you would tend to notice in window glass anyway.

There is a school of thought that it is desirable to hide glass objects to various elements of the render to squeeze real glass windows into the scene somehow -- but none of those workarounds are inherently more realistic (or less faked) than AGS. So my take on it is to just cut to the chase and use the easiest solution for window glass (AGS stands for "Architectural Glass Solution" and was introduced by the Next Limit staff back in version 1.x specifically to solve this issue).

Best,
Jason.
