How do I add materials to only a certain part of a mesh in the studio. So lets save I have a window as one mesh, the trim is one color and the glass is another? this is probably a pretty basic question and I know how to do it with the modo plugin, which isn't working in my case, so I have to try to find someway to make the studio work. Thanks

Have a look here in the docs (Triangle groups paragraph): http://support.nextlimit.com/display/mx ... ngleGroups

You also have a triangle selection mode found in the top toolbar: http://support.nextlimit.com/display/mx ... o+Tool+bar

So switch to triangle selection mode (with an object selected)
Select some triangles (See also the Selection menu for some options on triangle selection)
Right click in viewport, Object>Group triangles.

The triangle group will appear in the Triangle groups section of the Attribute Panel.

But it can be a bit awkward to do this in Studio and it seems your problems are coming from the fact that you have a lot of objects that use triangle groups. How many objects totally do you have in your scene? Is the problem solved if you instead select the triangles in Modo and extract those to make them separate objects in Modo, then apply a material to the object as a whole? I think that would be faster than trying to recreate all those triangle groups inside Studio.

I have 324 items. If I had to make them all meshes, that would be like a lot. I used a bunch of instances, because it is an office room set so the chairs are all instanced. So If I have to go back through and make each material it's own mesh, I would have to convert all the instances to meshes then do it that way. Won't that increase my file size a lot?

Thanks

I ended up getting it to export with everything tagged. I couldn't get it to export with the mxms already applied to modo, so I will at least have them tagged and can remake them in the studio.. Now to figure out how these UVs work carrying over.
