I would love to find out finally what is going on in your machine :D This is the weirdest problem yet it seems. Sorry for the dubious honour in that distinction but this is really weird. If you'd like I can connect to your computer using Google Hangout, so I can see your screen and we have voice chat. What is your timezone?

Mihai - thank you very much. This is a great offer :)

Personally, I think it has something to Do with my Hardware / Network Configuration. The only thing I did, was to change the license server from my workstation (3930K) to my Office PC (2550K), to have a Server running with less Power Consumption ;-) ;-) ;-). After that the subject begun. Sorry I didn't mention that before but I thought that it would make no difference on what machine the RLM Server is running. I completely uninstalled the License Server on the other PC and again there are no firewalls...

The weird thing is sometimes Studio works (licensed) and sometimes not MR is always working and recognizing the license.

My network configuration is the following:

Workstation, Office-PC, one Opteron MP are connected to an ASUS RT-N66U. The Router is connected to a GB-Switch in the cellar with the other Opteron MP nodes and the File Server running the Manager.

This configuration works without any problem with Network Rendering (Monitor - Office PC with License Server - Manager on the file server and all the nodes connected (Linux/WinX64/Mac OS X). As I said before Maxwell Render starts on every machine (is licensed) but Maxwell Studio sometimes starts and recognizes the license (server) without any problem and sometimes it doesn't connect doesn't find the License Server...

I will search on and I assume it is not a Maxwell/License related problem - it has something to do with my hardware...

Hello arch3990,

Keep in mind that now Studio takes a seat license (UI license) just like the plugins, while Maxwell Render itself (or the Rendernodes) takes a rendernode license.

In general terms, any application that is used by an artist to edit and produce and MXS (both Studio and the plugins) will consume one UI license, while any render process (both Maxwell itself and the plugins) will take a rendernode license.

So it can happen that if you own i.e. 1 Full + 5 Rendenodes, you can only have 1 UI application at the same time, so if your plugin is active in your 3D platform within your network, Studio won't be opened. Or if another instance of Studio is still opened in the same computer or in the network, it won't allow to open another one.

Keep in mind this change in the licensing management.

Hello Dario,

thank you very much for this information. This is the point. In the future I will take care about it.

Nevertheless, I have to point out, that Maxwell Render V3 is a fantastic update for a very fair price, for a medium experienced user like me, who just wants to deliver High Resolution Images overnight. And I didn't even checked all the new features of Studio!

I'm very satisfied with this release :D :D :D - thank you Next Limit
