here you can see the both screens of my Workstation:

"Maxwell Render" shows the correct license information (finding the license on 192.168.0.23) and works without a problem. Maxwell Studio says it is not licensed... :? :? :? (on the same machine - as said before)

I also have this behaviour on another render node...

What can I do here?

after my first issues licensing, I deactivated all firewalls on the machines...

...why is MR working and why Studio not?

I tried to reactivate in Studio and it says:

...but Studio is not activated (no chance to save...)

EDIT: I tried several times and even rebooted.

You don't need to license Studio separately, just to note that.

If Studio can't connect to the RLM server on the remote computer, than either something is blocking it on this computer, or it's blocking it on the computer that's running the RLM server.

The only thing the .lic file contains in this computer (if it's not running RLM), is a single line, telling it from which computer it should try to get the license file from. Both Maxwell and Studio read this same file.

What does the maxwell_license.lic file say on this computer? Find it in C:\ProgramData\Next Limit\Maxwell\licenses

I'm not sure what you mean by this? How did you do that exactly?

arch3990, I can't think of anything else that needs to be done, and the reason Maxwell is allowed to contact the license server, and Studio not, is because something is blocking Studio, either on the computer that's running RLM, or this computer.

Mihai, thanks for your answers :-)

I will search on...

Maxwell Render is opening MXS Files and renders without any problem. As it is shown in the second pic of this thread it has no problem finding the RLM Server with the license, whilst Studio refuses.
I can't imagine of anything that blocks Studio but allows Maxwell on the same machine (without any Firewall either on the RLM Server nor on the Workstation...)

The point is, that during the last four days the whole system workstation, RLM server, and render nodes went without any problems :?

I think there's a misunderstanding there somewhere, because all that the license activator does is place a .lic file in the same location, which both Studio/Maxwell read. It doesn't matter if you start it from Studio or from Maxwell - it's the same license activator that starts, and it does the same thing. Absolutely nothing changes to the exes themselves.

So it did work, both Studio and Maxwell for four days, and then it didn't anymore? You didn't mention this before I think? So what changed? Did you install maybe different versions of Maxwell on the different machines since the installers on the download area have been updated? Did you try rightclicking in studio.exe and "Run as Administrator" to see if that makes a difference?
