Respect! 8)
Coming to this cold, I think the cheekbones need raising a touch and the chin should be more square...........other than that Max, your modelling prowess makes my hair stand on end. :)

Thanks glebe :)

And you're right about the cheekbones and the chin, i'm taking care of those parts now. Also the eyes and the forehead and the lips need a bit more work before i'm satisfied with this model.

Hehe, nahh i'm not progresing fast enough glebe. It been about a year or so ago since i last did any type of organic sculpting like this and now it's time again to try to revive that and see if i can becaome a better artist. :) i hope so.. and i'm sure you can do just the same if you try.

As a little girl, I much preferred Spock and now I remember why. Capt. Kirk? Phffff. He didn't even have any hair on his chest. What was that all about?

Good model Magnus. The mouth needs work though - upper lip isn't the right shape and the lower lip isn't pouty enough. Spock groupies notice things like this.

I think the most difficult modeling is human modeling like this(especially face).

Try as I may, I couldn't do that. :(

Finally, I reached a conclusion. :P

I hate mankind.

Hehehe Frances :D you had the crush on Mr Spock.. i agree, Kirk was never as cool as Mr Spock. Noone can beat a Vulcan's sense of logic.

Thanks Fran, i'm glad you liked it so far, the mouth will get more attention as you suggested. . i'm going through the entire mesh over and over again refining and tweaking and adding more detail and correcting mistakes for everytime i'm going through it. But please keep commenting on what you see wrong with the model now and it'll save me some extra work later on :)

Spock groupies :D lol

Kim, organic modeling is a difficult even if you know what you're doing. Hell i struggle alot with this mesh alone :/ wish i had tons better skills but hopefully it'll all improve starting from this model. Faces and well known things (organic or non-organic) are always difficult to get right, especially a face since we all got one and we know so well what they look like and we can instantly spot inaccuracies in them, even down to a skinpore level :) it makes it a big challenge trying to recreate it, but that's part of the fun. Now i'm sure with your talent in modeling that you could easily do this.

Another reference i'm using as it has more skin detail and features visible

Xlars: Thanks, it's such a old thread that it really shouldn't been woken from the dead again. As always is the case, the progress been slow and poor lately :/ not sure why, maybe it's the heat or something.

Nico: Thanks but so far it's not great, just alot of work left to do sir. But thanks anyways..

A small update below, facial features added and adjusted, some proportions fixed but i'm running outta system resources already and i'm not sure how i'm gonna be able to finish this model :( damn!

Half resolution

This rendered for 9 hours 36 minutes and reached SL 16.33 at resolution 1365x1023.

Btw, the eyebrows are temporary. They'll be redone for the final model but now i just added to to get a quick idea about their position, angle and size on the mesh.

Great organic modelling .. that is so hard to do, and this head model looks very good. Maybe the top og the left ear could use a little more refinement, but I am sure you know already but otherwise I think you dont need that much more work on this model. Wonderful to see some good organic modelling (I just love enjoy to see work in this area, knowing how hard it is to make something decent). THe "clay style render" also looks very nice .. crisp and clear.

Lars, hi again, hehe and thanks! thanks alot but this model ain't finished, first of all i'm doing the front part of the head, where the face and all facial details are located. When all that's done then i'm moving on to the sides and taking care of the ears and the neck and the rest of the stuff and last but not least the back of his head will be done so that's the main reason why there's so little detail in and around the ears. It'll all be taken care of in time, no worries ;) this is just one of those inbetween renderings to get a sense of the "weight" of the model.

And i'm gonna say now that organic modeling is not more difficult than architectual modeling and product viz stuff. It's all equally difficult, and it's as difficult as one makes it to be..

This relativly simpel model is nothing compared to what the masters at the Zbrush forum and CGTalk can do, their work serve as my inspiration now to get better at organic modeling.

Clayrenders are clear and noisefree, that's the fun part with those. But this latest testrender wasn't that clear after almost 10 hours :( and the only light i use is one single hdri. Perhaps the high resolution has something to do with that...

[Edit] : I decided to drop this modeling project, it made no sense at all and it would in the end never look as i wanted it to look as i'm currently lacking the skills needed to ever get it to look photoreal. Project ditched from now. Sorry but thanks for all your comments.

Anyways, i babbled enough now.. sorry
