Shit stirring will only be allowed between 8:30 - 17:30, Mondays through Fridays. For equipment and instructions, call Mike Verta or tom at UZI4U@nolimit.biz

Btw, isn't the title of this thread a little weird?........

Christ on the Cross - warning nudity........did the romans put up signs like that whenever they crucified people?

I think if I'm about to see a depiction of crucifiction, nudity would be the least offensive part...

 Crucifiction 100M (warning, may contain nudity).

First of all, I would like to remind everyone that NO CENSORSHIP OF ANY KIND is in force at www.maxwellianart.com. No warnings are needed either. Please, post here and let everyone know that this site exists for you...

Second, I disagree with the comments made that Jesus looks too muscular. Consider the facts; they had a much better diet than we do today (I'm not going to fight this with anyone, do the research). From all the walking (they didn't hop on the bus) I think that most people of the time would have very good physiques (look at people in the manufacturing centers of China - most of these people have bodies that westerners would kill for - and it's only because they have a "clean" diet and walk or bicycle everywhere!). In fact, I don't think that he is looking, for want of a better term, "ripped" enough. He has gone through a considerable amount of physical exertion by the time he had been crucified; it is easy to believe that he would have been in severe dehydration. This would cause the skin to become very thin and tight over the muscles. Perhaps the musculature would not have been so "pronounced" (large), but I in fact think one would look more like an anatomical model more than a cover model... NOW, I also consider that this is a formidable modeling task (not one I would even think about attempting... :D ).

My two cents; I think the crucifixion scene is *mostly* accurate. The upright post (or stipes), was generally permanently fixed in the ground. The condemned man was forced to carry the horizontal (patibulum) bar, weighing about 110 pounds. There were two forms of "crosses" in use, the St. Anthony's cross, shaped like a "T" (as you have it here) and the Latin Cross "t" where the vertical part rises above the horizontal part. It's stated that the "inscription" was "placed over his head" drawing the conclusion that it was the St. Anthony's cross that was used. Lastly, it is unlikely that nails were used in the patibulum (one would have to first drive them in, and then pull them out = more work...). A simple slot was used.

Your use of the "seat" post is good, but perhaps a bit oversized. This was used to EXTEND the torture. As such, it was very small, just allowing one to have something to "push" against to get a fresh lung-full of air. As stated, the idea behind crucifixion was to suffocate the person slowly.

The cross was not very high off the ground; just high enough that the person's feet did not touch the ground. Again, this makes sense from the perspective that the person carrying out the execution would want to do as little work as possible.

Lastly, the "spear" was thrust into his body to make sure he was dead. By most accounts, this was done through the heart (according to the Gospel -"And immediately there came out blood and water"). Most likely this was the fluid surrounding the heart (the pericardium). Therefore, the wound should be on the left side of the body, not as depicted here.

Thanks for sharing your visualization and prompting a great discussion!

True, however, I am counting on (   ) people's own judgement here. I am very much against censorship of any kind, but if anything is posted that is against general law in most countries (anything that depicts children or animals, you know, common sense stuff) it will be removed.

As the website grows, I expect that we'll start seperating it out into categories (arch viz, jewelry, etc.). There will be a "adult's only" (call it what you want) section where one can post any (legal) image they like. In this case, it is up to the individual to choose whether to visit this section of not. Nor I or anyone else will have the option to remove these images.

Frances; I read your threads about the "other" forums that allow sexist postings. I agree with you totally. My take on this; though I don't feel one way or the other about the images, I do think that the people spending that much time to make an image of some half-clothed "Amazon" woman is just pathetic (using Poser no less - if you really want to do these images, learn to model and do something original). Using Poser images to construct these scenes is akin to calling coloring books "art". They really need to get a girlfriend and stop playing like 13 year old boys.

And yes, I just stated my OPINION, because like no censorship, we should be entitled to free speech as well.

Maximus3D wrote:Oww so using Poser is a big no-no :( sigh, and now you tell us that. Well then i can scrap my current render in progress as it contains Poser models. I thought Poser models was just another tool to use and that it wasn't to be rated as some kiddie toy. :(

Please, don't misunderstand what I am saying. There is nothing wrong with using Poser, as you say, a tool. My point is this (and again, it's just my opinion); I treat Poser as a quick way to incorporate figures into a scene. I could never model a figure like this in a million years (well, maybe after a million years). Using them as aspects of art is great, IF the focus is not on the FIGURE. Someone on here ( damn, I wish I knew their name right now - the scenes with the heads and hands) are GREAT, because the figures are used as a component! I said before that I have no feeling one way or the other about these images, but I am going to recind that. I do have a feeling. If you are taking a Poser figure and dressing it up in panties and bra and offering this up as "art", well, I think it's a waste of time. Frankly, I would rather see some bad figure that one did from scratch that they could be proud of, than use a poser figure and say "see what I did". Again, my problem is with the FOCUS, not Poser...!

And in fact, I use Poser all the time... :D

Alright Mike, i disobeyed your advice and suggestions and made these scenes using two Poser models, feel free to call me a immature 13 year old kid with my face full of freckles and beerbottle thick glasses and no girifriend. But on the other hand you're right, these examples i'm adding to my post now which i testrendered last night and today they do suck but it's mainly for fun to test some stuff as i did not feel like modeling.

I guess they have a place for Poser porn too, renderotica.com or something similar hehe, maybe images like these two fit better there than here, i'm gonna agree with you on that and also that there were some skilled users on the forum which made good use of Poser models in their renderings, i know who you're talking about but i think he was one of those guys who left the forum recently. :(

The above two should work as good examples of what you said Mike, this is NOT how Poser models should be used.

Btw, i think i hit 3000 posts now YAY! partytimeeeee :D
