yes, I use max, and yes it works (it always did, since the first alpha I bought). never had any problem with show map in viewport, here's a screengrab from max:

Yep, just checked - it works for me too - didn't realise you could do this (with MR) until this post though so thanks for that

EDIT: oops, I am using beta though...

the max plugin it's basically still the same, it works with the rc as it used to do in beta.

Does any of your tests indicate wether the image quality of the "beta engine" will be back in the coming release?

Hello Buffos....one thing i dont understand i why do you insist on this, i mean, all of you complaining made any difference??.

Mike has just said that many things have been disclosed, cant you at least hope that all the promised things will be in that disclosement???.

Why and why do you repeat over and over the same things???. please wait for the next weeks to se what comes up, we all have waited a lot of months.. and V1.0 is just around the corner.

Ina sincere and happy way man, lets just stop this... this will absolutely live to no where.

buffos, procedurals where never *promised* to be in a 1.0 release. However displacement was, and obviously sunlight seen through dielectrics must work, so I would be VERY surprised if customers will have to pay for these two. The same for motion blur, mxi emitters and SSS. This is all pretty obvious, so don't worry so much about it ( ), enjoy Maxwell and render with it now....I just had to render a scene with Mental Ray for Thomas render challenge, and the setup was certainly not without problems and necessary workarounds even for a relatively simple scene, while the results where nowhere near Maxwells. This for a renderer that's been around for almost 10 years...so try at least to relax a bit, enjoy what you have so far. Although you won't be able to render every scene you have right now, you can certainly already use Maxwell for plenty of things. I don't think you need much more proof of that.

I agree with most of what Buffos et. al. are saying..a simple road map would be nice...

But..to be fair to NL. Multi-Light Illumination Control wasn't on the original list of features and damn it is sweet! While I think that it is no secret NL doesn't have a good track record with it's customer base (I know..understatment of the century)....it is clear that they are commited to making the best rendering engine on the market, period. We as users will all benefit from their hard work...just have to be very patient :)

WARNING:
Buffos and dear impolite complainers,
Please take care of your style/words in speech if you want to survive on the forum. Also don't even think about hijacking this thread and discussing this warning. Do know I have many PM from users compaining about complainers and I have no credits left watching this. Take care!

Example:
buffos wrote:It is silly to play cat and mouse all these months.
...THAT is really silly.
then that is silly......

Has multi-processing support been fixed for the voxiliztion process?

Has the that 2gb memory address ceiling for the core been raised?
Just bumping this question, since everyone got distracted (or disgusted ? ) thinking about Tom nekid behind glass in the sunlight....

daros wrote:oops... can i correct you Kabe?

1) one core no HT single MW thread = two renderings, same noise.
2) one core + HT, two MW threads = two renderings, different noise.
3) two cores + HT (xeons) , four MW therads = two renderings, different noise
4) Four cores no Ht (opteron 280), four MW threads = two renderings, different noise.

In a few days i can tell more since we will integrate RC5 100% into RemoteMatador.
I'm not shure that I copy.... afaik no two renderings have the same noise,
not even two renderings on the very same single machine. I have not
tested this though...

if its using monte carlo methods (and it should), by definition no two images will have the same noise...

i still do not see the problem to write a short statement like:

"sunlight fixed, clipmaps fine"

99% of your users/customers would be happy...and by the way, if someone complains about people complaining about complainers, would the people complaining about complainers be adviced to change their behavior, too? :(

so, we'll wait and trust in mihai.
However displacement was, and obviously sunlight seen through dielectrics must work, so I would be VERY surprised if customers will have to pay for these two.
