Yes buffos 'interpreting the data' based on past experience is a sensible approach - on the bright side however, we should remember that the announcement was to tell us what is functioning to an adequate standard not what isn't - to assume that because it wasn't mentioned in the announcement means it doesn't exist would be a negative assumptive interpretation thingy...

People!!! Again and again always complaining about something.

True, they have no said anything about some features, but does that mean that they wont be part of v1.0?

NL has already given us in this announcement more then what we have paid for, way better things then what 400$ could buy.

The solution is simple for other users, just switch render engines, go to VRay or Turtle or Artlantis, and you'll be fine.

But for the love of God, live the forums to rest from this over and over questions.

Buffos i dont believe that we will have to pay twice for features not included in the final release of V1.0, the least they can do is to give a free upgrade to eligible customers.

and if we have to pay for just one feature that was promised in our first purchace, the this company will definetly loose a lot of customers...will it go bankrupt, defenetly NO, at least new customers will never know all of our frustation and suffering, they will just buy a new version with what it has and not on future promises.

NL can do jus fine with out maxwell...look at real flow and the new Xflow, those are fantastic softwares and are helping a lot of companys to do better things in every field, maxwell will do the same.

buffos - I hear you, I'm an optimistic person but I have come to accept that with NL we will 'get what we're given when we're given it' which means accepting that version 1.0 may or may not have the whole shooting match when it turns up.

However the 1.0 is just a number after all and I do think (hope) that even for NL it would be pushing the boundaries too far to expect us to pay for the promised features in a later release. I think we will get what we paid for at some point 'when its ready', even if its called 2.5 at that point. The fallout would be too great for even NL to bare (although they seem to have a fairly high threshold!!) if they tried to charge again for this.

I think we can all count on being 'virtual' friends for another year or so! :D

hi mike,

if we now have a standalone material editor with material preview, is there also planned a standalone preview engine for the plugin?

the cinema plugin has a tab for the preview already, isnt working yet, but would be cool to have this in v1?

are you allowed to say anything about this, or do you know?

thanks:-)
cheers

if someone officially promises, that I will get working sunlight without having to pay for it, no matter how long it will take to get it fixed/finished, i will be very happy

that's it for me, but I guess, if they were sure to be able to fix it, they would already have presented it to us, no?

Will we who have pre-orderd be eligable to receive patches for V1 that include the RS2 engine and bug fixes or restoration of previously promised features? I think an official statement in the announcement section by NL is in order.

Ohh my dear Frances...thats seems so easy...but you know we probably wont get any statement from Victor, hes a busy man who has no time for us now, but maybe Maya could do this.

No, no... I agree with you, as usual. :(

I agree with Fran, we need to have a clearly laid out list of features that V1.0 will contain and we need to know what NL plans on doing about patches and future upgrades. These things should be well known to them by now, there is no reason I can see why they wouldn’t be able to give us this information unless they want to continue to keep us in the dark. Mike surely you agree with this point, not having a features list especially now that the time frame for development of Maxwell is open ended seems down right ridiculous.

For the little that it is worth around here...this was quoted for agreement.

Random seed, not machine dependent. Even if you start the same render two times on the same machine, you have different noise.

Kabe
oops... can i correct you Kabe?

1) one core no HT single MW thread = two renderings, same noise.
2) one core + HT, two MW threads = two renderings, different noise.
3) two cores + HT (xeons) , four MW therads = two renderings, different noise
4) Four cores no Ht (opteron 280), four MW threads = two renderings, different noise.

In a few days i can tell more since we will integrate RC5 100% into RemoteMatador.

I've said before the announcement, in the announcement, and after the announcement, that there are many more features already implemented in Maxwell than have been disclosed. That annoucement could've easily been twice as long or longer. It is silly to think you know what isn't going to be in Maxwell and I'd recommend you stop wasting your energy on it. Further announcements are coming, and then you'll have facts, not speculations.
