So, and what's so bothersome about this? Every living software project can
be delivered further, but that doesn't matter much.

What matters more is when we, the users, can let beta go because there's
something better in our hands. As long as they deliver solid progress, a final
release in 2016 is fine with me :D

But please: Don't destroy open communication by not honoring it.

Victor wrote that "soon" they would provide more information about the final
schedule for v1.0. Yes, that s-word is a bit of a touchy subject here, but for
god's sake: It 's not today by any standard.

So lighten up for a minute, enjoy the day, give them some rest.

Cheers

paxreid wrote:1. Most scenes I have seen are matte scenes. Are reflections/caustics etc stored within the light as well? Meaning when a light is turned off, all the reflections that were in the scene (meaning that light was showing up in a reflective cabinet surface...to use your kitchen scene as example) go away as well? Very nice feature..just curious what is stored with each light.
Yes, it works just like you've said and let the secret stay with us 8)
paxreid wrote:2. Will there be another test demonstrating SSS in the near future? In the current example scene, it is tough to see the evolution of this feature.
Yes, more examples are on the way.
paxreid wrote:3. All talk about RC6 has seemed to go away. (A while back, I beleive Tom was talking of a imminent release of RC6...) Seems now that v1 may be the next release. Just curious.
Next release will be 1.0

Am I correct in thinking that the rendered values for all the lights are stored in the Maxwell scene? I.e. since it will be possible once again to continue a render it will also be possible to reopen a scene and adjust the lighting balance once more?

1.0 will surely be more stable than RC5, no doubt!

Thanks a lot for the update and work Mike, A-Team and NL! All of this is promising and I can't wait to use it..

Maybe the info is already here, but is there any news about rendering in pass/layers/objects? Exept from the "hide object" feature.. A "pass/light layer" editor like de interactive light editor would be really great!

Somehow it frightens me a bit. What will be, will be.
Next release IS 1.0, sorry if my English was not good.

ugh the ease of use scares me......yet again, people in our office think they can do everything on their own and question me everyday about "how I get those realistic renderings and whether or not I use Maxwell Render"

If they see this, YIKES! Looks like any idiot could use this program now.
