as somebody has rightly underlined with this RC we have new features (the studio, new materials mainly) but none of the previuos issue has been fixed!! nor the dielettric.. nor the clipmaps.. nor the sss... nor the speed......
as to those talking about ferrari etc... their issues are frankly laughable... ferrrari or Fiat 500 if i give some deadline at the moment of purchase i have to respect it...if not i am just misleading the purchaser with uncorrect advertizing...

"Thanks for the $100,000. Your Ferrari is not ready yet. Here's this Fiat. What's wrong with you? The Fiat is an excellent automobile! And you'll have the Ferrari in 6-24 months.

Don't call us, we'll call you."

I hope for it as well. However, as it is not mentioned specifically I'm not very confident that we'll see it.

One question Mike, do you have any idea if the previous plugins (C4D for example) will work with RC5?

Kabe and other fellow MacOSXians, I have the feeling that part of the delay has to do with the fact that they are compiling (or debugging) the MacOSX build.
So I am confident that we will receive the Mac RC5 together with the other OSs.

But I may be wrong :P or not... oh well!

Thanks

Another question: what about procedurals?
I guess the answer but maybe...

By the way, I totally agree with Adam. A v1.0 without clipmaps and caustics+glasses working correctly is unacceptable.

I really hope it does for you Mac guys. You've been the red head step child of NL for too long.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but all they missed where the useless RC1..4 releases, isn't it? You could call that a blessing.

Are we going to see more example renders of the 'final' RC5 prior to it being released Tuesday? I ask this because the images posted may not have necessarily been produced from the RC5 being released.

And Cebas Finalrender2, unfortunately.
You beat me to it, Ernest. Thanks for that post. And, thanks to the Windows folks who have put a good word in here for us Mac users.

I am not holding my breath for a Mac v. on Tuesday. Windows folks may come up empty on Tuesday, too. Nothing new about NL setting and missing delivery dates.

Ditto. What is coming is that all these missing features will appear in V2.0... and we will be expected to pay. Again, NL will need the money.

well i also think v1 MUST be able to rende all stuff correctly.
this was promised.

NL shall call the next versions RC until we have a FULL working version!
i dont want to pay for an update to v1.5 or v2 just to get Rs2 working.

i rather have a rc 10 in between than a not fully working v1!!!

dont spit on your customers NL.

cheers
