Mark, ...good points. Believe me, I have the same sentiments--- to see a release. Everything adds up to sound like we're close, ...I'm just not tempting fate. I can chill a few days more, also---, ...the wait would be nicely tempered with an official announcement. So if we can't have it immediately, then a few words would make it somewhat palatable.

Yeah, I do :) Even though I don't use it in production yet, it's changed me, as a user. Every other software, like mental ray which I know very well and work with every day, feels like a labor and a chore to set up and use now. I'm spoiled. So, I'm rooting for NL; I like to believe NL is the underdog story. But then I'm from Hollywood, so everything's just one big movie as far as I'm concerned. I love a happy ending.

Oh and guys, regarding an official announcement: I've volunteered to author the next one for them because the language barrier causes a lot of unnecessary confusion, and so that's what may happen. There have been times where they chose the wrong word(s) and I'm hoping to help them avoid that this time around.

I haven't written it yet; I want to wait until I'm absolutely sure what's going to be in the release. At this stage, a lot of things get turned on and off many times and so the version I'm rendering with tonight may be different than the one tomorrow morning. As soon as I hear that our current build is locked, I'll author the post and submit it for review.

Well I don't know about being at the center, but I sure could put out a good "behind the scenes" piece...

I have a suggestion for mverta and a-team:

There should be some archviz dedicated people on the betatester team. I think it is a must because the big proportion of archviz custormers.
That would help a lot looking for the most important issues and hunting bugs regarding archviz specific work.

When MW can do this mate I'll side with you on MRay ;-)
Maxwell is intended for realism, not for making cartoons ;)
That said, I love anime too :D

mverta: Thank you for the ongoing info. However, I no longer share your your enthusiasm that Maxwell Render will set the 3D world on fire.

When I first saw images rendered with Maxwell, more than twelve months ago, it looked unique.

Time has moved on and other established render engines have also been improving, so the Maxwell initial impact has diminished.

I personally am struggling to see anything apart from spectral dispersion that cannot be done with most other render engines in a much faster time also.

Perhaps RC5 will rekindle my enthusiasm but I somehow doubt it. I'm sure Next Limit have serious problems with Maxwell which is why we are getting an optimised Beta (RC5) as a pathway to a cobbled together Maxwell 1.0. When Maxwell 1.0 is here then the project finishes unless Next Limit hand Maxwell to a profficient developer who cares about the most important elements - the customers.
