I understand you JTB, but what you want is just not going to happen..

we are B-team... they are A-team...

I think by now they should release it the way it is. Even with all the remaining bugs and crashes.

You can't postpone it for longer... we can't wait forever for the 100% bug free software... everyone knows it will have bugs for a while.

It doesn't make more sence... it seems that the render engine is working in some degree better than the beta today.. so let us play with it.. We understand it is broken here and there "just release it with a big warning for the unattended users" We'll understand the crashes.. we just need the new overdue bug fixes!

Releasing it broken today won't cause more damages than postponing it for weeks.

It will even be a good PR... You can even say... we trust on you to test our software ! :o

I think that yet another busted-ass release would be very damaging, all they can do now is work on it until they feel good about it. You saw the posts - the A-Team apparently has a say in the process and wanted more bugs fixed. They're users, and as we've seen they've got a pretty high tolerance for abuse, so if they don't want it I don't want it.

Strong disagreement here. The next public release must match the beta in all major aspects and enhance it in some places.

However, it's time for communication again...

........It would release a maelstrom of discontent that wouldn't be good for anyone. Us or them. A monumental mistake.

Do you mean bigger than the discontent we have right now?
We've gone through RC1 to 4... we've gone through Beta black dots... hey this software can't be that disfunctional right now... I don't see how after almost 8 months of work the current version can be worse than what we have in hands.

they shoukd make clear statemen such as , for instance.." the rc5 isnt still ready and wont be for a while ... we dont want to release it until all the major bugs are fixed and the quality is superior to beta....we hope to release it in x months ... but that is not a certain deadline...we ask u to forgive us for the inconvenients..."""
what is important is if they give a certain date should respect it... otherwise better say we hope to rlelease it by a certian date but not sure about...
besides they should gave us an exat description of the stage of development they have reached .. what are the bug solved and the new features implemented or beeing implemented..gave reguraly some images ....

8 mos? ...what's that? ...I could hold my breath that long ....

Speak for yourself, ...It's fine if your discontent, that's a far cry from the pure venom we'd see in the forum with another broken release. How is that a good thing?

For myself ..., the beta is fine. I also understand that there are functions missing which are important to other users, but I can 'presently' get along without. It's an individual thing. So I have empathy, .....but releasing another crack version would only ignite and deepen negative emotions, --furthering the division between us and NL. It's like putting a fire out with gasoline. So, ask yourself ...what's the best course ?

Agreed giacob,

It's communication the userbase is looking for ........which I'm perplexed as everyone else as to why this info hasn't materialized.

I promise you guys, NL would not delay the release of RC5 just because they wanted to be guaranteed that every single user would be happy. If that were true, it would never be released. I spend time both behind the scenes with NL and out here on the firing line with you guys, and in my personal opinion, the only guaranteed win-win for them would be to release v1.0 tomorrow morning that had every feature in the Beta active and improved upon, had no limitations in the engine of any kind, and could render a 10 billion polygon scene noise-free in 3 seconds. Anything shy of that and someone's going to complain. I know we're approaching a release, and in going back to my original announcement that started this thread, I see no compelling reasons to revise it. I still say my 50/50 love/hate response to RC is a good call. It truly depends on your specific needs. Personally, I don't use Maxwell in ANY form for my professional work, because it's not ready, but in terms of just using, practicing, having fun, testing, etc., I am no longer using Beta and won't be in the future.

Ivox, you've seen the demo the betatesters are putting up.. the RC seems to be able to render just fine. If it is better and they are waiting to release becuase of a few bugs anc crashes c'ome on... don't be against just to be againts. If you don't want it just don't download it.

Have you seen how many users are login in on the forum rescently?
hey no anouncements for a long while. and we are left what the "soon".

The main reason this thing is going banannas is because of the lack of communication. I agree with giacob too. I think this silence is a lack of respect.. Are they just woried about making new sales? What will hold the revenue is the V2, v3 and so on.. there is just so many people in the field they can convince.

Their brand name went beyond the limit of word of mouth.

This last 2 weeks of scilence ware the worst CEO decision ever. He just needed a line of excuse after his last deadline. As simple as that. instead he has alienated the whole user base.

Hey Mike... I think we are only in need of an official announcement.. You know Victor's last announcement with those words of "confident" and "soon" left a lot of people waiting.. If he had kept the communication channel open this forum would have had a different tone.

I'm not disagreeing.

I'm just working the problem, brother. Just working the problem. I can't control NL, and I'm not going to run propoganda for them either. I'm a paying customer like you, and I'm impatient besides. I just decided to take all the energy I might've spent ranting about Maxwell's delay and put it into trying to make the situation better. I mean, people react different ways to this sort of thing, and that's how I reacted. So now I'm testing, and I've been trying to post as much as I can, giving out as much info as I'm allowed to, but you're right, I'm not official NL.
