Gosh, you should be happy that I'm tired.

I would not have believed anybody who would have claimed that in the year 2005 "light though glass" would be a feature for a rendering application. This is just hilarious to put it very, very friendly (ya know, tired...).

This single question was asked again and again and again, and as in all other instances when a question remains unanswered by NL it meant that it wasn't fixed. It's obviously a fundamental problem of the whole approach if it wasn't fixable in a couple of man years.

No, it's not a feature by any measure.
No, this (what?) is not a release candidate by any measure.
No, NL has still not delivered.
Yes, I am really sick of this constant spin talking.
Yes, I will give NL a chance nonetheless.
Yes, the clock is ticking.

tick, tick, tick, tick...

Guys, just an update: In some early tests, I'm not seeing any sun+glass problems at this point... I'm researching some more threads you guys have sent me to investigate further. No image release authority yet, but I thought you'd like to know.

Cool...So you're saying that *direct sunlight* (not skylight this always worked) passes through glass? Like, let's say, a small room with a window? Sun light rays?

I have received image clearance... I'm going to let this render run a bit so you can see what I'm seeing. It'll be a few hours. I'm going to dinner. There's a great chili-cheeseburger I like to get from this one place.

I'll upload when I get back.

Mverta - Its great to see the work you've been capable to archive with the new RC. Can't you contact NL and tell them that you are going to post every single test render with value to us members. I think that would calm down the stormy weather on the forum a bit.

To all of you that have missed the announcement

Mike,

Well really if you want to end this debate once in for all you also need to prove that the lighting resolves not only throught the glass but also as seen through the glass.

For example: (very old image)
Image

Here are a couple test scenes (in a zip file). If you can render these without problems, well, there yet may be hope for this product.

And with that I'm out here. It's a Saterday night and it's time to go get silly. Cheers.
