Mike
Maybe you can clarify some things for the users here who for some strange reason were led to believe that they would have a working RC5 by this week...since ALL the milestones had been accomplished successfully!.

1. Has the A-Team given NL the 'green light' to release RC5...or has the A-Team only seen small pieces of what is supposed to be RC5 and have no way of evaluating weather it can be released or not?

2. If Victor was pre-mature last week with words like 'We have accomplished these milestones successfully"...."we are very confident about a RC5 release next week, including the Windows and Macintosh versions"....could you ask NL why a simple message to the users was hard to accomplish?

This is all getting old....I know you are probably more tired of it than any of us since you get most the abuse. ...they should start to pay you for your time.

All the best.
Paxton.

We are working very closely to the Maxwell "A-Team" (testing team) which is now taking more responsibility on the testing process and quality assurance. We are now very cautious about releasing something without the A-Team green light.

To summarize, we are very confident about a RC5 release next week, including the Windows and Macintosh versions. I will invite the A-Team members to disclose some information about this progress.

Boy, talk about getting old... If I said, "pretty please with sugar on top," would you guys stop getting your digs in on NL every time you ask me a question? I mean, first of all, I think we're all well aware of this stuff by now, yes? We have about a billion threads on it, justified or not. Please don't shoot the messenger, com'on man I'm beggin' you. Help a brother out.

Now, as to your question, A-Team doesn't have "Green Light" authority, but they ask us. So far we have the sort of cautious optimism that comes from being here last time something was released, tempered by seeing some real progress on the RC 5 front.

Here's my little Nostradamus impression, which is basically a repeat of what I said in my announcement:
Some people are going to scream and rant and tear their teeth out. They do this all day anyway, going from thread to thread on this forum and a couple of others writing posts with many correctly spelled words and calling me Darth A-hole or whatever.

Some people are going to say it's really encouraging, and they feel better and they like new feature "x," and they're looking forward to the future.

And then there's the people in between.

I mean, whatever.. I'm digging it, I'm digging the process, and I'm out $400 bucks too, so what can I say? I also get to talk to the lead developer almost every single day, and he such a solid, cool dude, that I really want to see it all go down the right way for him and the other guys.

If I was NL, I'd hold off for a bit, but just because with every day, it gets tighter. We could say that all the way up and through 1.0, though, so I guess you gotta show something sometime. And that time is rapidly approaching, I should think. I'm just focused on testing and there are a few things I'd rather see go the next level first.

But some hero renders are coming that should calm a few of your flutters. For those of you who are capable of such a thing at this point, anyway.

sorry if things seem to always go though you Mike...not fair to you. sorry. You seem to be the only link to NL for most users...and I mean only (please don't advise to email them....it is a black hole)

I will only ask rc5 questions of you in the future. Thanks for your time.

oh for the love of god please stop this guilt trip your hiting us with,
hes a solid dude, guy. they have been working late hours and thier familys have been missing out blah blah blah. please if i promise a client (which i do every day) a project/design/what not and then i miss it due to poor time management etc then it isnt down to the client its down to me (ME) i do not lay a guilt trip on them and i do understand they would be pissed at me if i missed it and they lost money etc from it.
i for one have never asked for a single date/ picture to prove what maxwell would produce once final they have given it to me and then showed its wrong and not what i would actually be given. im just getting a little sick of hearing how hard they working to get it to us and my answer is this SO WHAT we are the customers that have paid and they have told us by such a time/ we would get this and heres a piccy to show you what you would get from it.

if they have to work all hours to get it to us then thats thier problem not ours so i ask you please dont try and lay the they all cool guys trying thier best to please us under the stress we are giving them.

they decide the dates/ the images and the details they show us and they decide what we will use

sorry for the rant but i for one know what it is like to give clients what they want and know how much giving them what they want means to my feeding my kids, its up to me what and when i give it affects my outside work hours is.
enough said

dd out
rant over
etc
etc
ps for the guys actually helping us and giving us information this is nothing personal at all honest

Mike you shouldn't be giving excuses for them, you are the good guy. THEY BETTER BE TALKING SOON!

If I promiss a date and don't deliver. I have to go an extra mile. One time I had to give a design for free, because of a 2 days dellay when my computer's Motherboard burned. Not my fault but dellays are unforgiven on the business world.

And here we have a huge dellay and SILENCE. That's impracticable. Should I remember they have our money? I mean how long before some class action? Aren't they afraid of losing their house?... It only takes 3 minutes to write "I'm sorry." and it seems that it takes more than a year to fix a CLIPMAP bug.

Anyway.. Mike you are all the help.. don't take it personally in any way.

Oh Hi Maximus!

Well, this belongs to that other big thread but, here you go.

When you say something is certain to be released next week. You expect until the last minute for that.. I'm not alone here with this thought.. I think most of us are.

And to see this forrum going crazy even before the end of the fiday deadline ... you see how upset everyone is.

as i said mike there is nothing against the people trying to help and you are one of them there is nothing in my rant aimed at you and i really do mean that.
i just know that if i promise something to a client i better hope my butt can pull it off cause i know the bottom line will end at my feet and im not happy with being given the guilt trip by a few people here. when its not right at all.
so once again it has nothing to do with the people helping us only the ones that set the deadlines on info shared/ software to download, they are the ones allowing the dates etc to come to the public and its thier hole they are trying to dig themselves out off, which is not the clients problem ITS THIERS

:)

omg another dd rant

the problem is not the dellay at all! The problem is the lack of communication .. If nothing was going to be released this week.. let us know.

And by the way, after so many months off schedule. Belive me there is still room for excuses. I want to hear them! :(

Can you guys go hijack an off-topic thread instead of one that is proving interesting? Thanks.

Yeah, I think my last question got lost in the shuffle - I was just wondering about DoF indicators, which would seem to be an on-topic question. I'd really like them, but if the answer is no, than that's that. Oh, and I'll except an "I don't know" or an "I can't tell you" too...

See Mike, you're responces have been so fast and honest that now I'm spoiled! (But I'll try to make this my only repeat of this request)

Good instincts. Your question takes me on a clear and straight path right over the NDA line :)

This is a great and needed feature and I'm not the only one who thinks so. ;)
