i just hope the cinema plugin will be better and support ALL functions that are available in the max version!

cheers

Stefan, development for the moment is primarily focused on RC5. The Cinema 4D plugin will only be able to at this time be updated to work as it is with the release of the RC5.

I can assure you that Next Limit is well aware of the capabilities of all plugins and intends to have them all at optimum. I would say for now, Maxwell Studio should be able to handle what you need once you export out of cinema 4d. From the studio all persons have the same capabilities. The workflow is becoming much better as of RC4 and in my own test.

Except for animation/moblur, right?
I do not recall of any of those being available in the RC4 Studio. Those features can wait for my own uses. I cannot recall that many people doing a whole lot of images with motion blur or animation back when it was available or is available in the beta version for the Max users.

But I have faith that NL is on top of the issue and it will be worked out at some point when it is feasible with their development schedule.

I would say let NL work it out, and I am sure you will be more than pleased with their implementation when it comes just like we all seem to be over the recent developments of RC5 pre-release.

Actually, i'm going to use Maxwell for animations only. That's why
i really hope they will get mblur and animation rendering working.
And network rendering aswell. Must thing to have.

Usually i don't need to render large images. Pal reso 720x576 will
be just fine for me for tv commercials. So if i can get Maxwell rendering
Pal frames in speed like 30min/frame, that's all i need. There is no other
renderer able to do that with this quality.

And i really would like to see that good old bounce control back. In some
cases it could speedup rendering so much, without noticeable difference.

How do you see the future of Maxwell for animation use?
I know it's going to be first for still renderings for architectural usage,
but is there going to be any hard limitions for doing animation?
Any toughts?

Is there something to say about network rendering in RC5.
Not from me at this time.

Well you and I have the same needs, so I hope it's good. I think like anything else, our limitation will basically be speed. Too early to tell... again, being able to do animations is not considered optional by the development team. It's a must.

Mike, would you consider doing a material render with the floor and ceiling the same mat as the walls? It's kind of hard to tell what's happening GI-wise with that bitmap there.

Thanks for your patience. 8)

i hope NL are looking at the issue of multi-GB even TR worth of mxs files that are produced when rendering a scene - if they're serious about use in animation this needs to be dealt with - although I admit I am talking about my beta experience, this may have changed in RC. its bad news when you hit that 'render scene' button and you meant to to hit 'render frame' on a 1000 frame scene - come back to it a few hours later expecting your latest masterpiece and you've run out of disk space

Mike,
This issue for me is like your motion-blur, so I'm just reposting to be annoying, as this question keeps getting burried in the ramblings about ISO settings.

Mike can you please just tell me if you can comment about this???

Interface question... Repeat (3rd time)
(maybe I missed the reply in this HUGE thread... )

Shadow settings...
Understanding that you can't say much about the sunlight status in RC5...
And understanding that being on a mac, I havn't had access to anything but the beta...

Has there been any improvement to the interface for picking the time of day, time of year, etc. to set the sun position?

ie: City: Denver
Year: 2006
Month: 1
Day: 3
Time: 5:00 pm
Daylight Savings: No

Thanks in advance.

Of course you're not rambling... its just that there's so much attention being paid to that discussion, it makes the lack of any discussion about my issue all that much more frustrating. :)

Yes there is a new system in place. Can't say more, but yes.

Apparently, Ernest, both the idea of being under NDA, and not being in a position to speak about issues that I'm not privvy to information about, is lost on you.

Mike is serious on NDA considerations, thank you.

Yes, the interface provides some controls to pick latitude, longitude, day, hour, GMT, etc. for the sky. There is a sky preview in real time in the viewports, a 3D Earth to pick the location directly and see shadow zones. The viewport also shows the direction of the sun in the compass.
