how does it work if I have
- 1 laptop (Win) where I use Maxwell most often
- 1 desktop (win) that is just used now and then for rendering purposes

i activated the license a while ago on the laptop and now thought i'd just render on of the things on the desktop...

yeah. an hour later, my nerves are fried and the computer short before nonexistence - how do I get it to work? with 2.0 it was no problem at all. with 3.x and the fucking license system I have no clue how to get it to work.

starting maxwell 3 it show me that I have a permanent FULL SUITE that has been checked out from the server xyz (showing the network ID of the laptop).


it cannot just render the .mxs as some paths are different so textures are not found...
Starting Cinema4D I get an error message that the Maxwell license is active on another computer and I need to de-activate it ...

how come it is so much more difficult to use a tool that i paid for and that has always been a breeze to use? I'm not in my best mood and will probably regret the foul language later. but right now I'm pissed.

would be nice if anyone could tell me how this might be working...

for whatever reason it started working now...

license is saved and the model is rendering. hope this was it


mh. do I have to have to run the laptop continously as license server when I want to render something on the desktop?
or just to start Maxwell? (don't want to screw around to much while rendering)

First thing is first, what kind of license do you have? Floating or node locked?

i got a floating license according to the NL download portal.

(can download some license file there, but no clue what to do with it.)
