Hello,

Trying to get a small network up and running and am having a few problems. On MAC osx 10.9.2. Here is what I have done and seen to date:

1. installed RLM Server. Can not get RLM Server to launch automatically on restarts. Can get it to start by double clicking: /Users/Shared/NextLimit/rlm_nl/rlm

2. after starting RLM Server, the "license files" field is empty and it reports: "no ISV servers running"

3. the correct files DO NOT appear to be installed: The RLM Server is installed in: /Users/Shared/NextLimit/rlm_nl
There is NO file: /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.nextlimit.maxwellrlm.plist

4. I installed Maxwell on server machine and had no problem with the licensing, choosing: "Maxwell Render Suite - Floating (activate the RLM License Server or add more Floating seats or rendernodes to the existing one)" and "I want to activate the license on this computer now (online)".

5. When I launch Maxwell the console shows:
LICENSE INFO
License found in standard license path : /Volumes/Macintosh SSD/gary/Maxwell/maxwell_license.lic
ERROR: - Error getting license, returned code : Communications error with license server
ERROR: - Maxwell has no valid license.
ERROR: - NO LICENSE PRESENT

6. when trying to troubleshoot I launched terminal and typed "hostname" and correct name was returned.

7. I am doing all of the above with Firewall turned off in Security & Privacy.

8. I have no idea if this is relevant, but on this machine I have two hard drives, one has my system and applications the other has my home folder. Could this be causing some of the confusion with files not found?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,

Gary

On further inspection I have updated items 1, 3 and 6 in the first post.

The items that do not match the installation instructions are:

1. There is NO file: /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.nextlimit.maxwellrlm.plist

2. after starting RLM Server, the "license files" field is empty and it reports: "no ISV servers running"

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Gary

Update:

The problem is RLM Server is not being successfully installed. If I have applescript open when running RLM install it reports the following error:

error "usage: mv [-f | -i | -n] [-v] source target
mv [-f | -i | -n] [-v] source ... directory" number 64

I did run RLM Server on another machine and it installed correctly...

Thanks,

Gary

Hi Gary,

If the error is there, then all the files except that one are already copied. You can copy that file frome other computer to this computer (or simply copy the one attached to this message after decompressing it), you must put it here:

"/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.nextlimit.maxwellrlm.plist"

That mv command is trying to copy the file to the final path, the file does't change between computers.

After copying it, you need to go to terminal.app (in /Applications/Utilities) and write this two commands:

1.-
Code: Select all
sudo chown root /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.nextlimit.maxwellrlm.plist
2.-
Code: Select all
sudo launchctl load -w /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.nextlimit.maxwellrlm.plist
After that you may restart you computer of all the changes to take effect
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.
