fryrender is a new unbiased renderer that simulates the real behavior of light to produce true-to-life renders with a minimal set of light and material parameters.

...
The price of fryrender v1.0 is USD 995,00.

fryrender vBeta1 is available now for preorder at a price of USD 495,00.

...

Never heard of fryrender before.
By reading their pdf manual it becomes obvious that they closely observed Maxwell's history and maturing phase and came out with a product that resambles almost exactly most of MXW's most crucial parts like, the layer based material editor for example. I believe they put special emphasis on parts that took a long time to become available in MXW like clipmapping for instace.
Plus they added a spectral curve editor (MXW should implement that asap too).
Might become tough competition, though its obvious their features are more than just "inspired" by MXW...

They have a nice licensing strategy btw. :
1 license equals 10 computers, regardsless of CPU/Core number.
I could set up 10 Quadcore Woodcrest Xeons with one license...

...I think it's not only nice, but fair and the only way to go in the near future. :?

I re-read the manual and some things/features are utterly unbelievable copied from MXW.
Quote from the manual pdf page 18:

"ghost makes a transmissive material reflective but not refractive, which fixes the sun through-glass-problem..."

The material system in general is so close to MXED, its hard to believe they invented anything by themself...[/url]

Just speculating and guessing :)

By just comparing the address, 28043 - Madrid to 28045 - Madrid, they seem to be neighbours.

I have taken an eye on fryRender since a few months, and i will be happy when they release the final version. Just to see what this render can.

hmmm wouldnt nextlimit already be aware of this if thier offices was that close and why if there was something naughty going on wouldnt they knock on a few doors, just seems not logical to me. if someone 2 doors away from me was stealing something from me i would be there in a heart beat. just seems strange to me

bottom line is competition is good for the industry and every single app takes from every other app. there is only so many ways to produce a wheel

FryRender was mentioned a few months ago on this forum, so i thought it would be know.

The similarity to Maxwell is strange.
