Mike,

Great job on the announcement :D It was worth waiting for. It's nice to see all of the positive comments (things have been looking up since RC5 was released) :!:

Looking forward to seeing some renders from you and Tom...

...and the rest of A-Team, who helped get the content ready for that announcement, to say nothing of countless hours of testing! :D

hey Mike...

great news, indeed... !

* * *

do You know if there will be something like realworld texture size parameters with which one can precisely set tex dimensions in a model?

examples: bricks, concrete patterns, tiles

for example, artlantis has these options and it helps a lot texturing... You certainly know there's nothing like that in maya...

* * *

do You know if there will be a «wrong color display» available with light intensities that architects / engineers could use to interpret rooms and windows? this would be great for sun/light studies !

Couple of other questions:

Has multi-processing support been fixed for the voxiliztion process?

Has the that 2gb memory address ceiling for the core been raised?

JDHill wrote:Hi Frances & Mike,

I would suggest this route: anything that reasonably should be working in v.1.0, but is unavailable due to unsurmountable limitations in RS1+, and which is also successfully addressed in RS2, should be given as a patch to v.1.0 customers. Any new features over and above this would be disabled in this patch, being available only in 'next-gen' Maxwell. This would serve to satisfy v.1.0 customers, while at the same time providing the impetus to those same customers to purchase v.2.0.
Well, this would create a code branch, and from a software design
perspective I can clearly say that you're trying to avoid that...

It's a bit easier: Fix the promised feature set (which would mean the
switch to rs2 basically), release it and a few bonus ideas as 1.5, then go
to the next level (polarisation, fluorescence anyone?) and release a rock
solid 2.0 half a year later.

I agree that the version that is announced now should be labeled an RC.
Internally it might be an RC for a while - however I'm absolutely
confident that we will find a couple of issues.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to it, however they call it :D

Cheers

Mike, you don't know how I always wanted to ask this question, too:
Will they finally see me naked behind the glass in a sunny day? :lol:

Tom,

I've been doing everything I can to sabotage the glass issue to avoid that very thing, but I fear sooner or later, all shall be revealed! Then the price of Maxwell will go way up. Or down. ?

Well, don't know Tom. But I would rather pay *not* to see him :-)
