I see, nothing new, only solid, perfect Maxell images everywhere.

I'm curious to know, why did you use a plastic with roughness 1 instead a diffuse material. Is ir not more difficult to calculate for Maxwell?

I think Jotero is right. In reality all materials have a cetain quantity of reflection. The diffuse material of Maxwell i think dosn't exist in reality.
It sould be banned from the material editor.
Tom, please correct me if i'm wrong.

Jotero, all you renderings a really perfect.

It was not my intension to say Jotero is not right. I belive, he is one of the "old" masters here.

I think, rough clay could be looks like pure diffuse and Jotero try to get a material like used gypsum. Could be interesting test to render two objects with diffuse and plastic roughness 1.

In renderman exist an extra rough material function for shader like clay after the first low temperature fire. An other example of roughsurfaces is the mood. The moon looks like disk, because the moon is extrem rough (seen from the earth). In the past I have used a rough surface shader for a felt surface.

I have done a test with plastic roughness 1 and diffuse material. I see a small difference now. It seems to be subtle effect, but interesting. The diffuse material looks a little bit more rough.
I never had used a plastic shader for gypsum. :)

Jotero, did you use a black diffuse component in your pastic shader and did you control the brightness of the color by the reflection color only?

hello all :)

hi micha,

that was materieal a test, plastic or diffuse materieal faster or not :?:

looks :)

Very interesting...
How much reflectivity you put on the plastic?
Thanks Jotero.

Yes Daros, there's no diffuse material in real life.
As you see, the new material system simulates it with roughness ;)

very very promising...
Thanks Tom.

Thank you for the test, Jotero. The diffuse is a little bit faster with a little bit less noise, but I think it dosn't matter.

Please, could you tell us more about the plastic settings?

it is Maxwell beta materieal plastics u/v roughness 1 :: no maxwell RC1

... I mean what are the values for (diffuse) color and specular?

Yeah that caught my eye, very neat and sophisticated if i may say 8)
