No they are not. They are made in China, Korea, Japan, Italy, Spain, France and there is one little factory left in England. They do not use chipped glass (have you ever handled a mirrorball?), they are made from glued strips strips of perfectly square or rectangular mirror.

You're absolutely right, this was not especially made to demonstrate the discoball itself, but the effect it produced on the walls.
