I my latest project I noticed some difficulties to get proper materials assigned. Even when geometry is fully exploded at export.
This could be a SU problem. When I copy paste the same geometry into a new file the problems are solved when rendering from the new file.

Exporting to Studio works as well. No problem then. But when exported directly I get wrong renders.

I also got problems exporting matarials with the same imagemap but edited for color in the SU-material panel. Changing the color in PS and using differently colored imagemaps gets things right again.

Then my texture positions often flip 90 degrees in SU, depended on the texture loaded. With some texture maps loaded into SU I see texures flipped going in and out groups. At render you also see the flipped results instead of assigned positions in SU.

When I export to Studio without the sun activated I can no longer see the sun's postions on the compass in the modelwindow in Studio. Even when I go from IBL to physical sky. Ineed to reexport to Studio with the sun activated to get the sun back into the compass.

PS, not bug related.
I got however great results using the interactive preview to test materials, hdri's and sunpositions. The interactive preview is especially nice to set the values of roughness mappings in the material editor. It saved me lots of time.
I will post the results of my latest work (competition) as soon as I am allowed by my clients. The current versions of SU, Maxwell and the plugin are giving me a lot of fun doing my work, in contrast to the frustrations the work used to be.
I wonder though when an update is to be expected. I would especially like the image counter to be implemented in the plugin.

Thanks for the feedback, Francois.

Could you elaborate on what is meant by proper? Are entities exported with wrong materials, no material, or? Does it only happen with a very large file, or can you reduce the complexity and still observe it? I can give you an FTP to upload an example if you wish.

Same question, wrong in what way? Wrong materials, no materials, or something else?

I know of one bug in SU regarding this, but could not say if what you are seeing is related to that or to some problem in the plugin. Do you have an example SketchUp file which consistently exhibits this behavior?

I partly see what you mean when exporting using sky dome in the plugin, but not with physical sky. By partly, I mean that switching from IBL to physical sky in Studio brings the compass back. Either way, it's a Studio problem, so I'll mention it to the developers.

On questions of Fire in the plugin, I am almost done integrating it for the material preview, but not yet for the main render.

I sent you a pm with the file, stripped down for you to see my problem.

It happens with any size file.
Somehow colors or image maps are not assigned in Maxwell.

The same file exported to Studio renders different from the one render directly out of SU.
In my example you will see the red colums in SU render white or maybe as default in Maxwell and in Studio this happens as well but for less parts of the geomtery.

In this example file the flipped image maps no longer give problems. So for that I can't provide you with an example.
It seemed related to higher resolution imagemaps that I later replaced for lower res. maps. After that the problem was gone.

In Studio the compass is alwasys there but not the sun itself. I assume that was clear.
ok, hope this helps, although I can work around the mentioned problems, either by exploding the geom. or by copypaste into new files. Or deleting the problem materials in SU and setting up a few new.
