Maxwell is no toy Max ...
I have to agree with ivox3 Max. On the other hand do a job search, how many job postings would find requiring Maxwell Or Fry skills...?
If Visualization industry is where you wanna be for sure Vray or Mantal ray is a must. and that will not change even if Maxwell gets as fast. (big companies don't change their workflows over night, just because Maxwell or Fry is "Physically Correct") IMO.

Now everybody just go back to silently watching their renders. You'll all be kind of sad when that gets taken away with MW 3.0's real-time engine. What will you do ..... ? LOLOL.
That is a pleasant fiction :D

Given Vray's semi realtime viewport developments of late, speed is going to be of major concern for all renderers. Though Maxwell's path is different, it will be wonderful to see what bursts out of the box in the future.

More like nostalgic sadness -- something akin to moving from a rotary phone to a push button. Yeah, there's fond memories, ..but nobody's going back.

btw: speed has been a major concern since the first render, but I know what you mean. Interesting to see it all unfold.

You have to make a distinction when you say visualization industry. When I hear that, ..I think primarily of the arch.vis. people, ... I think of a job listing for visualization that has requirements. I think of some architecture office wanting to hire a render grunt (apologies/sympathies to all render grunts out there..lol) --and we know what they typically use. Of course, this term 'vis industry' somewhat neglects all the product/jewlery people who usually do their own renders with their engine of choice. As we know, .. those folks use a renderer more like a weapon or tool than some requirement by some employer/management. Both fields are probably equal in size/scope, ..but arch.vis definitely gets more of the attention because it can be quantified. So because half of the field is basically eliminated and the other half is set in their ways, ...that more or less explains why you would rarely see a listing requiring something like Maxwell. But I'm also certain it's just a matter of time before we do start seeing 'official' requests for MW as a skillset in the arch.vis field.

There's also the ad/marketing/commercial graphics arena where MW gets used a lot, ..but again, that wouldn't necessarily mean you would start seeing job listings with MW as requirement. MW would just be something someone just brings to the table as an individual skillset. And they may or may not even disclose it's usage to clients.

So it's just a process - an education. As more and more people (art directors/marketing dept's, different industries etc..) become aware of MW, it just gets entered into the fray of options to visualize whatever it is that someone wants to visualize.

This is a big topic ......sigh.

You have to make a distinction when you say visualization industry.
you name it from Cutlery to Skyscrapers.

-Architecture.Take a look @ the Maxwell gallery, when it comes now Architecture nothing "big" just some stand alone buildings.
CITYSCAPE3D http://www.cityscapedigital.co.uk/ (have had close ties with Next Limit since very early beta versions) an official NL Partner. I wander in how many projects have they used maxwell?

-Cars industry.Take a look @ http://cg-cars.com/ http://www.carbodydesign.com/... bottom line is Maxwell is not visible there neither.
here is a good one andronikos916 an ex Maxwell reseller http://forum.cg-cars.com/gallery/showim ... i=2675&c=2

So to rap it up before I get the mafia on my door step, Product design, jewelery is where maxwell can accelerate...(on small things). or I should say, yes you could render a Skyscraper for example but I'm afraid the builders may finish before the rendering is done.

Do give me wrong I think in theory Maxwell is a great product thus the reason I'm still lurking around here, But the slow development and the lack of getting a strait answer on issues we have had since alpha stage has raise many questions here.

I'll say it again- "Slow" or not Maxwell is the best! Waiting a couple of hours or a day for professional images that often require no post-work and can be used in advertising etc should not be the end of the world. How long would it take to hire a professional photographer, rent a studio, take the pics and apply postwork to take images of your product?

Yes, some of the other rendering packages are faster but the images for the general user are NOWHERE close to what Maxwell produces. Every time I look at one of these renders I always think "nice computer generated image" every time I look at a Maxwell image I always think "nice photo, or nice shot".

Shouldn't we distinguish ourselves from the other rendering packages? If we produce an image in a few minutes can you convince your client that an immense amount of work/knowledge went into that image and can we charge appropriately? Faster is nice but it also brings up some interesting questions... at least for me :).

Just my 0.02 cents of course!

I don't mind waiting since I have all the tools right now to do my jobs but it would be great if they said what dates would be getting a new preview of the V2 product.

Since Modo does Fridays, can we get something on Monday or today would be fine as well.

Anyone here know when the next day will be since Tom mentioned weeks/month till the product gets released?

Besides speed which is the biggest improvement in my opinion, I can't imagine what they're going to show in the weeks/months to come.

Just wait... it will be a 'Special-Midnight-Report'
But I guess we can't wait for the updates coming every single week. No that I'm against, but that would be too often. So, perhaps next Friday.
