Hahaha! :) Yes, I figured that out, but what I meant is whether the 64-bit version is simply a recompile of the plug-in to work with Max 9 64-bit or if it's really utilizing 64-bit features, such as addressing more memory.
If you're talking about the "Max Physical Memory" spinner in the global render options, that's only for the "use hard disk" option. I'm sorry that the name is misleading (and that it's not automatically grayed out when "Use Harddisk" is off), but it doesn't affect normal rendering in any way.
Actually I always thought that was the case, until Brett asked me if I could increase the spinner beyond 2048, and after I noticed that wasn't possible I figured the spinner was about RAM.

But now I know what I need to know, thanks Mihnea!

Actually a recompile is all that's needed. You don't have to do anything to be able to use the 64-bit features, you just need to get it to build (which may or may not be straightforward). :)

Dissapointing that even though Next Limit have chosen to only develop Cinema 9.6/10 plugin support it still doesn't function correctly. A failure at the testing stage or a plugin with known faults released just to get Maxwell 1.5 released (a day late by the way).

It would not be much of problem for experienced programmers to at least write a 'light' version of the Cinema plugin for those with Cinema 8.5/9.1/9.5 - I assume those were the current version when a majority of Cinema users bought into Maxwell?

Edit: Nicole has mentioned in another post that an updated Cinema 9.6/10 plugin should be available before the weekend.

Well, in a way it is available:
The old plugin works fine with the new Studio afaik.

NL also had to support R10, and at some point you have to choose.

I said literally years ago, that sticking with 8.5 is quite an limitation when it
comes to support an external renderer. They are not crowded with people
doing the Cinema plugin - and compared with the Maya plugin it's still a bit
basic.

If they would stick with 8.5, a lot of development capacity would have been
wasted to write code for the bin. Nobody likes to do that.

Dude, do you consider that an option? I wouldn´t use Maxwell Studio if it were the last software on earth.

All of my scenes contains literally thousands of objects, of which some of them needs to be in uneditable-mode for tweaking. If i were to use Studio for any of those scenes, i would increase the time it takes to complete the scenes by a factor of 20.
And don´t forget to add the collapsed hierarchy you get when importing a C4D scene into Studio...

I realize i can´t use 8.5 forever, but this is still only an 1x upgrade and apparently not such a good one at that.
This plug should´ve been working properly years ago, so don´t say they haven´t had more than enough time for developing one that should work for everyone.
