This solely depends on which plugin you use. With the C4D plug, the answer would be NO on all three counts.

Maxwell is anything but stable, inadequate as a production tool,(unless you have unlimited deadlines and/or print out in lowres), and definitely not suitable for all types of projects.
Give the plug a try, and you´ll be tearing out your hair by the roots within an hour or so.

NL would be better off announcing what bugs they have fixed for the next release, and later release features like SimuLens as separate patches for those who want it.

Hope the 1.5 is soon, but knowing NL it isn't worth stressing while you wait, it just gets depressing....

they act compared to the new and future customers that didn't know alpha and beta release, and all the story since the RC : for them Maxwell is ok

So they can't be angry, they just wait patiently, as we did.

Before here was a great place, where people talked about rendering etc, now it's a pity, complaints complaints complaints...

Just hope to see the same ambience here than 2 years ago...

If NL would only focus on getting the basic functions in Maxwell workable for everyone,(that would be ALL plugins, not just some...), and then start adding these features as goodies, there wouldn´t be much complaining. Plus, we would most likely have that great place where we could discuss renders instead of bugs and flaws.

It´s kinda pointless discussing materials, lighting etc, when it´s a major pita just to get it to render a scene without having a handful of strange errors.

lol,

That would be a great feature if this is to continue. I wonder waht advantages and settings that feature would have?

Thank you Nicole for that update,
And I know that you wish I weren’t writing this message, but that would go against my principals and I have to ask; Are any of the long awaited features that we have all been discussing on the forum and that of extreme importance to our business’ survivals and abilities to provide what the clients need be available on this release? I could understand if you cannot further describe any of the new features due to legal complications, otherwise if feasible could you at least give your costumers dome peace of mind. As far as the posting and I am not trying to lecture anyone; this forum has also the function of a direct link between you (Next limit) and your costumers. If my paying clients specify a due date and I do not meet that date, I can then expect tons of emails (many of them I would imagine raving) wondering about the progress of the project. I could not get back to him and tell them not to write me anymore and that a week from now they would have it, expecting a good result. Maybe it is a cultural difference knowing how services work in Spain and how deadlines become forever stretched with no worries and nothing to else to do, however many other countries have a much different view of demand supply and the expectations of such. Anyway, just wanted to make that clear, once again not to impose, but to remind all that we are not a group of children demanding absurdities. No matter how many licenses of ~ each of us owns, we are all paying costumers and obviously great supporters of your software and efforts.

So, new date for ~1.5
May 21-25, 2007.
got away for a week, no reason to complaint now, as terms are ok for me.

i like to see new features...
and i like to see old features fixed.
also i like closer adaptation to hardware like 64bit and overall more efficient memory handling.
ill be happy if i can render 10million polys with multilight and simlense with batched networkrendering and getting 32bit output

lets see if we get something on top of this. mdp would be the most obvious feature missing right now and instancing could be part of the "better memory management"..who knows.

i would suggest to keep the noise down and let then choose the pace of the uncovering. its just more fun to get surprised compared to waiting in pain.
