So... Glare has been fixed(?) and improved ... hurray ...

That's it for today's news and/or feature announcements?

Hmmm...
Not a bad feature at all, but definitely not good enough to keep people's patience.
I do not think [optimistic mode ON] that it really IS the juiciest feature of 1,5 but in my mind NL must once again reconcider it's marketing policy.
The fact that there is communication IS very good by itself, yet, this communication must be done in a way that works FOR yoy, but not AGAINST you.

Think twice when choosing what features you are presenting and what words you use to describe these features.

Cheers!

I wasn't having a go, we all have our own opinions.
I know and your point was fair, I was just explaining where I'm at with this.

I am going to wait until the new version is out, check it out and THEN criticize this version. For now this new feature looks ok to me even though I do not need it right now. So I wait and see.

Q! Berlin!

It should be said that the word "juicy" was something Nicole quoted from my post in the other Maxwell 1.5 thread yesterday so the word is mine and not her's. Don't slay her for borrowing that word, besides it's being taken outta context as it belonged to a separate discussion in the other thread. Don't kill the messenger guys. :)

It's good to see this feature been updated and fixed in 1.5, it had it's issues in 1.1 as we all know. Cool looking animation, i like it! and that Mihai rendering of the interior scene looks remarkably clean, where's the noise ?

It looks like something I'm never ever going to use.... so I'm waiting for more revelations today.

More revelations? I don't think so...

It is ironic that the very thing that I, as a professional photographer, strive to eliminate has become part of the feature set of so many renderers. I recognize that subtle bloom and flare can contribute to a sense of "reality"... but I would hardly consider it a key feature.

My cameras don't use cheap optics, I use lens hoods, I gobo my lens... my pictures are not characterized my flare and bloom.

It is nice to know that I can make renders look like photos made with poorly handled, crappy cameras.

How about a maxwell camera using cheap plastic, asymmetric lenses (like a Diana camera)...

Perhaps a random abberation feature so that you never know what kind of picture you'll get when the render is done?

I guess some people need this, but I personally would like things like fixing the instance or micropoligon displacement. I hope that there are still more features to be release and I hope that they still have a multilight type of feature to disclose

Ok maybe I spoke too soon, but I just realized that the scattering part is better than any volumetric pass.

Hello Nicole, thanks for the news!

The glare bugfix is a good news since never been able to use it on mac yet, but I thought we would have a complete feature list today? Maybe I misunderstood..

Does anyone have a trick to do displacement in post-prod ? Can't it be easily faked in 2d with blur and color-shift ? I feel stupid waiting for it since it doesn't seem to be an important feature in 3d renderers..

Very impressive. But I think for lot of users of Maxwell, we need more "some production tools", better workflow and more robust plug-in (cinema 4D for example), instances and displacement.
If maxwell wants to be the leader of the new render engine, they can't miss that stage.
For me this new feature, it's the cherry on the cake.

But maybe more new features will be announce today
