I am agree with the fact that many people Cry before the HIT. But there is somthing really difficult now for us at Pixus. I explain why :

We are using Maxwell for 2 years ago now and surely like all people here, It s integred in our production pipeline, and i assume NL help us for a big "Step foward" in our respectiv market. But now, they can't make like if we are all in a sexy beta program test of a sexy beta render Engine.
We have to plan big project for 2007 and it's now we have to take the good decision about what kind of render software use for them.
We need to know if displacement is avalaible in the 1.5
We need to know if our actual blade park is enough powerfull to achieve next big Projects.
We need to know in what kind of scale we will could increase our polygons number in the scene.
We need to know if a resume button will mork...
We need to know if the NetRender is really Stable and Fully functionnal and not a Big Strong Perfectment of the Network render like they say...
We need to know if the MXM are retro compatibble or not...
We have to know if the Licence politic is gone and if we have to plan a important budget for an important number of MXCL licence.
We have to know if we buy 16 core blade if we have also to buy a 2000 dollars licences pack.

So we are here, and know if the truc bidule stuffs are implemented or not is maybe a little far away from our basics needs.

I am sure that 65 percent of the new capabilities are really great, but it doesn't tell about how will the new maxwell release will help in our coming projects.

Best regards. :?

Illab, I have to be pushed a long way to get shitty, but I'm sorry mate, two years for me is long enough. I respect you, I respect where Next Limits development is, what I don't respect is my business having no idea where Maxwell 'is' or 'will be' for as long as I have been kept in the dark.
That's all, tell us now and stop this bullshit.

is ok visual impact, i know some beta / rc- times where frustrating.
but i am sure they also do their best.

nl are good programmers i think, maybe not so good in marketing, but i still admire their work. beeing myself in the software development i can feel now how hard it is...

cheers

I admire their work also, they helped in developing my business further, but it still could be easier for us all, it dose not have to be hard. :)

-displacment, was almost said by mverta, so make your guess
...uhh.. excuse me? "Almost said?!" I've never said, or hinted about any features in 1.5 beyond what's been officially announced. Please do not encourage what is already wild speculation on people's parts. I'm sorry people don't have all the info they want, but there's nothing I can do about that. Somebody speculated that the 16k alien render I did used displacement. It did not. It's just bump.

LLab, the retro compatibility has already affirm in the past, but i was after "open and resave blalbabla"...
I don't speak about these kind of retroCompatibilite...
Sorry.
Also i am a fervant NL supporter from the start a use M~X.
But there is the Tanguy who love the renderings and so love the NL dev and there is Tanguy Pixus CO. and here i can't just wait and see.... I have to plan all compagny business for 6 month at short.
So excuse me but the dream is a luxe that we can t offer themselve.

We're all frustrated from waiting for such a long time with a varied flow of information and especially if you run a business then yes that can be most annoying as you cannot plan ahead. However i think this is a doubleedged sword, either way you swing it it it's gonna hurt someone badly.

If NL releases too much info which then don't for whatever reason make it into the final release then they're in deep trouble. And if they release too little info they got us chasing them down with flamethrowers until they release more info for us. It seems no matter what anyone does someone will always be unhappy. They have a tough job, yes indeed.

But thanks to Nicole there's a much better balance now in the flow of information compared to before and she deserve a big thanks for that.

Still i feel there's a uneven road between the coders and the PR department at NL, that needs to be smoothened out so both updates and info can reach us users faster without dragging it out for longer time than necessary.

Here's where we would like to have small inbetween updates, patches and fixes to not only the plugins but to the core itself. Waiting one year between each update is a long long time..

It would be very great, if 1.5 includes displacement or instances...
It is the last hope to get something worth downloading. If not - I switch... :( Time is money, and life is too short "to believe" any more.

Just to remind people, (mentioned below) we should have had all these features, in version 1.0 in 2005.

I'm still waiting for the promises mentioned here-

"previous 30 hours results can be obtained now in 3 hours" was also said.

Needless to say, if 1.5 doesn't have more than this, I'll be very dis-heartened.

weren't all these claims that you (shaun) re-posted referring to the RS-2 engine, not the RS-1?? From what I remember during the RC-x days we won't be getting the RS-2 engine for a while…patience friends
