I already post this in rhino newsgroup but for those of you that don't go there, here is a small movie showing what rhino can do in realtime.
It's far from the quality of maxwell, but it's pretty good already.

That's really neat hyltom. :) I would've guessed it was Flamingo or something, not Rhino. :o

No, it's just a transparency map apply on a dark grey surface.

aaah, you tricky :P ... but it would have been an extra cool surprise if Rhino could do real time shadows as well.

Since the new version of rhino, we get a really good realtime preview, as you have seen in my previous movie. But the rhino material are not so realistic compared to maxwell. So i had the following problem: how can I get the maxwell material in realtime with rhino? So i have done some experimentation and find a solution.
Here is my result: http://www.divshare.com/download/307032-8d7

I haven't so much time to spend on that, but i hope, in the coming days, i can make some more materials and share them with you. My only problem is that i would like to have these materials appear in a library (like for the maxwell material) and just slide them on an object to apply them to it. So if someone know how to do that  ...JDHill maybe :D. Anyway, any help will be welcome.

Hi hyltom,

It's possible...but you want me to keep working on the Maxwell plugin, right? :)

Keeping a list of Rhino materials wouldn't be very complicated, but making them drag-drop would be. Have you thought, maybe you could make a .3dm with your materials in it, import it to new drawings, and use the Match function to apply them to your objects?

Just an idea. :)

:D Keep working on maxwell plugin, that's the most important and as a new version of maxwell is coming, you should be quite busy at this time. Maybe someone else can help me about the library creation. About the drag-drop, i can leave without it. A simple "apply to material" button can make me very happy already.
