OK, approaching perfection....

The ceiling, I suppose it is some kind of acoustic damping material, no?
If it is, it looks too shiny. These materials usually have a porous surface, which translates to close to lambertian roughness.

I agree with superbad on the monitors, I would guess you propably need to model the screen with a curved outer glass that can have a slightly rough environment reflection, and then put the emitters behind that. It will increase render time though... Maybe use an approach similar to AGS. Or maybe you can figure a way to do it in one material...hmmm.

I know your target is to match the photo, but please also make a final image using much less light. The photo lighting is quite harsh, some of the steps in the multilight have a much groovier atmosphere!

Awesome job Tim.

You were asking about the flash light effect in the ml video. I would make them last a bit longer; just a bit. maybe is too fast.

Miles, thanks.

Mihai, yes but I'm probably being too conservative with the -ml sliders. Will see how it turns out tonight.

superbad, thank you for the suggestion. I took home what you said and the latest version has 1 mxi emitter layer, two bsdf layers for the grey, one with a coating and one bsdf layer for fingerprints and grime. When tonight's render is clearer I'll know if it's improved them.

Tom, please see top of this post. :D

JesperW, the tiles are just false ceiling tiles. My material matching has been to recreate the blue splash from the far wall by the door, but is it too reflective? Original photo here:- http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y198/_ ... esks-1.jpg Please see my reply to superbad regarding the monitors, I'll try the AGS method next if today's settings are not working. Yes I will make a nice beauty render as well. I have a few desktop renders to knock out too.

beppeg, ivox3 thank you.

hyltom, check the top of this post for clean downloadable version.

Thankyou Rickyx, patrikpanda, juan & Hyperballad. :D

Fernando, I left it on for only a frame, I'll make it two. ;) Thank you for the suggestion.

Last night's multilight. Lots of inverted normals on this one, but I've now fixed them.

Latest hidden wire overlay.

Last object position tweaks, a few more material changes. Tonight's running render.

Yesterday's multilight anim is at google video here, if you don't want to download the file:- http://video.google.co.uk/videoplay?doc ... 9&hl=en-GB

Just need to fix the seat materials, which seem to be moving towards felt or velvet for some reason.

More tomorrow.

pheww!!

amazing, il like color/contrast/specularity of the last version! The mat of the blue chair is much better!

I don't have you level but a few comments hoping it can help:
In the photo the door seems to have more visible specularity than in render, it might need a little more on the desk wood too.
Have you tried to reproduce the burned-wight light at the back? Maybe more specularity and/or glossiness might do it..
Are you aiming to reproduce de glare effect on the photo? (roof lights) it would be ultimate, and you're worth it!! :)

Good continuation!

Cheers Fernando. :D

tokiop thank you. I have been trying to recreat the burned out light in the door, which is from the camera flash. With a glare map, this should be more accentuated.

Cheers Tom.

I agree big K, it's not the most aesthetic of rooms. ;)

Well I've had a nightmare this weekend. Having set the mxs up so I could turn on my machine and hit render, I was to find out that Maxwell had killed the MXS.

Studio wouldn't open it, niether would MXCL. The reason.......... my harddrive was full and when Studio saved the file, it didn't tell me that the drive was full, it just clipped off the end of the mxs file.

Thankfully I had made a backup on Wednesday, and was able to extract all 83 materials from the corrupt scene and import them into the back up.

What this means though is I've run out of time to do further tweaks. My machine has been rendering non stop for the last 48hrs with the hope of submitting everything tomorrow.

Current render which is at sl10 at the moment.

Hopefully this will be addressed in an update, but beware that mxs files will be killed if HDD space runs out during saving!!!!!
