Frances wrote:Wow, I totally missed your equating violence with solutions. I guess we could emphasize the point by dragging up the statistics on how often a female is assaulted/abused/murdered by a boyfriend, husband, or male family member. Wonder what that's meant to solve?
Some men aren't very smart. Some men are successful at life, love or what have you. But I still think it's solution driven. The majority of men that don't beat their wives have found better solutions while the man beating his wife can't see past getting her to stop her current action that has in his mind a need to stop.

Yes I’m saying that the man committing violence is trying to solve a problem but so is the guy taking his wife out to a nice dinner after 20 years of marriage. Just don't underestimate the word 'problem.' For the one committing violence the problem is huge while the man taking his wife out to dinner it's just a problem of closeness to his wife.

Problems are perceived as subtle things for intelligent people and insurmountable things for the not so intelligent.

I’ve just driven into work while thinking about my last post….

The human body can be wondrous to behold but when you start dissecting it you run into some foul looking and smelling things.

Let me just surmise by saying that:

Men want to understand and Women want to be understood.

The more severely a man doesn’t understand or a woman feels misunderstood problems arise.

Of course I’m just an observer of women so that’s just my take on it.

There is no "cause and effect" or lack of problem-solving skills involved in violent acts toward anybody. People abuse other people because they are sick and it makes them feel good.

And Luis, thanks for sharing your story. :)

I personally know of two women who are in abusive marriages and they refuse to leave because of their children. It is very sad to know that their little girls are learning how to be abused and their little boys are learning how to abuse.

To be fair, men have not cornered the market on abuse. I also know first hand of several cases where mothers have been horribly abusive to their children and have a family member (in-law) who is being physically and emotionally abused by his alcoholic wife.

You might want to take a considerably longer look before talking too much more about it all.
