jfrancis wrote:What is the difference between aperture-shaped glare and the already-implemented aperture-shaped bokeh?
Bokeh is there because of the depth of field. Aperture diffraction is caused by the fact that there is no such thing as a perfect lens, and all those tiny imperfections lead to light interference patterns when the light goes through small openings. At least that's how I've understood the process....if you're more interested you can google for fraunhoffer diffraction. Though I tried doing that and my brain went on strike for a few days....

Extremely useful in my industry of Architecture.
Yes, this is very nice. Also the sea-render glare looks very realistic.

Yes, I also fear to see many coming images with exaggerated glare .. most times the most realistic is just a hint, barely visible imo.

The multiplier of drawback this time depends on image size. I haven't measured it exactly but for an image of say 800x600 it takes about 30 seconds. But it's supposed to get much more optimized after the 1.0 release.

Hi,

So presumably these effects are caused naturally through the mechanism of a traditional SLR and photographic film....

Will we be able to choose "the effect caused by a Canon A1" as a preset?

Or have to learn some tutorials about which shape to use in which situation?

Thanks for the images, they're all all fantastic!

Regards,

Mark

So what does an "eyelash" map look like? Could you post some examples of the maps used to obtain the promo images?

So far these features make Maxwell look really exciting! I just hope it's stable, and can achieve low noise levels in reasonable time.
