Is this done with the MAXWELL 1_2_2a_beta?

Indeed it was, did it again with four threads and it dropped to 1h 2m 55s. Pretty happy considering it's only a laptop.

Looking forward for a new comparison when 1.0 is out with an extensive chart. Interesting that you get a performance gain with multiple threads on a single threaded system. Ima try it again with mine but earlier tests didn't show me any difference compared to a 1 threaded session.

1hr 40m. This cant be right! Also very odd that i get a time slower than some of the P4's.
Rendered from Max 8 using version 1.0 RC5.
4 threads used.
Coupel of things i was wondering about - andronikos mentioned in the first post a maximum 5 bounces - i cant find any setting within Maxwell for Max8 that allows me to change number of bounces. I cannot load the skydome.mxs file - maxwell studio wont open it.
Also, in my Maxwell/Output folder there is no log file (as suggested by ignacio) to be found anywhere.
Woudl this scene render faster through the Studio (which I cant use for this scene anyway)?
I'd like to try the scene on my Athlon 4400+ Is it easy to transfer the Maxwell license from one computer to another ?

Why are you making this test with RC5? This graphic shows benchamark but made with Alpha version (in this version you can controll bounces number)

Those are old mxs files and will not work in rc5, hence the inability to open them. I don't remember which version those were for, but Studio is definitely not going to recognize them.

OK - sorry - didnt really know what i was doing. I dont have the alpha version. Studio seems to allow control of the bounces, but not the max plugin. Anyway, is the mxs scene going to be made available to those that have RC5 ? Ive never used it, just about to get started. Once some basic issues have been resolved, like materials appearing in the max material editor and speed issues, i'll start investigating whether it can tempt me away from Vray :)

Vray / Maxwell ......2 different things. Apples and oranges.

Why limit yourself to one ? I assume since your posting here ....you have a license .....which would mean that you would want to get your money's worth.

So .......start reading. :) .....lot to learn. :)

ps. .....your question about that scene being re-done for rc5 .....I doubt it. Not because it wouldn't be interesting, but that there are just too many other things that are of more importance than this particular test at the moment. Maybe when there's a solid RC6 version or better .....a new benchmark test can be established. In fact, ....I'm sure we'll have one ..... then. ;)

I agree - its good to have options, & definitely want to get my money's worth !
