maybe someone here will have the answer ;)
When I export a model from my CAD app (ARC+) as a DWG, Autocad reads it exactly the same - a normal, non-triangulated model.
However Maya imports it as a tessellated and triangulated meshes. It sucks of course. It's workable but not optimized.
Is there a solution for this? ARC+ gives you DWG,DXF,GS1 and ATL 3d export.
Thanks !

There's not a single CAD program in the world which real time-tessellates its surface data as all Quads.
Not even programs which cost a fortune can do this. I guess your model looks clean in the source app as you are
instead looking at Nurbs isoparms / edges but not the mesh itself. It's not Maya's fault that your model is comes
in with triangles.

Well I model with polygons, and they look as quads in autocad and artlantis (I'm not too familiar with those 2 - it was a simple check I made to see if there's an alternative for my export)....
