Hy

With the new SketchUp plugin V2, Mirrored Components in Sketchup are wrong positioned in Studio !
(To mirror a component in Sketchup, select the a component and press the right mouse button and choose in the context menue "Flip Along > Red or Green or Blue)

01) Strange: The automatic opened mxs (after export in Sketchup) in Maxwell Render looks good BUT....
Image

02) If I open the mxs in Studio, the objects are on wrong places and have wrong rotations!
Image

03) And if I press the Render Button in Studio, the rendering also looks wrong. It seems, that by open the file in Studio something somethings goe adjusts wrong.

So please correct that problem. I'm working on a architectual project, and i have now troubles with mirrored Windows. Now i have to reinsatall the old version.

In the beta version I noticed that instances are not displayed or rendered from studio either. I imagine that this has been fixed by now though.

I think this is a Studio problem, not a plugin one. So uninstalling might not be necessary: just uncheck the instances option in the plugin if you need to take something into the studio.

NL - any other way around this? Or a fix?

Yes, it's a Studio problem related to mirrored objects exported from plugins. Could you please upload that file? It would help...

I can also confirm it is a Studio problem. Workaround is possible - uncheck Instances checkbox in the options panel. In that case instances are not supported (they will be expanded to a full geometry at the export) but you get the correct geometry in Studio.

Mihai - I am sending report to Juan with all details and sample files.

Well strange, on my machine, it also don't works if i uncheck the instances checkbox. Yes, if i open the mxs in studio, there are no instances. But the geometry is still wrong placed. Please download my little box project and try it self. Maybe its a Mac Problem and the mac studio don't works simular like the win studio or the Mac plugin is differnt and the instances checkbox don't works correct!

Anyway for me there are no Workaround with the SkechUp Pugin Version 2. I have to reinsall the Version 1.5.

Are you running Studio 1.6.1 (as opposed to 1.6.0) as the plugin announcement mentions? There are additional transformation problems in Studio1.6.0 which might be causing this.

Yes i'm running Studio 1.6.1. But i downloaded it a long time a go. I think it still the same 1.6.1 or is the actual 1.6.1 Version a newer version?

Michel, there are still some things you can do. For example if you mirror a whole bunch of objects in the same axis, when opening the scene in Studio, change their scale to a negative one in the axis you mirrored. This should bring them back to the way they were in SU. Same thing applies if you're using instances. Select the object, switch to instance selection mode (or just select all the instances that were mirrored in the same axis in the instance panel list, and using the numeric panel in the object params panel, set a negative scale in that axis.

Well ok. that works but it need time and i have to check each instance seperatly. Then every instance need changed by an other axis!

So i'm happy with the Plugin Version 1.5 and i'm waiting for a update that just works.

Thank's

I don't think you need to check each instance separately. If you mirrored all those objects at once, on axis X for example, then you can just select them all at once in Studio and set their scale to negative at the same time.

Has anyone tried ito see if in SU it is the instance if mirrored that causes issue? Might I suggest if that is the issue mirror component and make two separate components and instances.

Note I'd do the test but not yet do I have 1.6.1 or the new plug installed. They just don't seem to work for me!!! Excited about the day they do! If they do? :(

I can confirm different behavior on OSX and Win when exporting mirrored components with Instances checkbox unselected.

Another workaround I can offer is to explode the mirrored component and group it afterwards (or make a new component out of it). That also fixes the problem (tested on OSX as well).

Another thing I can mention is that I am looking at the plugin code again - while I cannot fix the situation with instances (that needs to be done in Studio) I should be able to change the code so that transformation is handled differently when exporting instances as groups. That would fix the problem on OSX with Instances checkbox off.

Could anyone provide a scene with mirrored objects that are NOT exported as instances? Do they import ok into Studio in this case?

Any news on this yet?

Or better yet: can we expect a fix for the actual Studio problem? Quite a grave bug, this one.
