I have reinstalled both SU6 and Maxwell 1.5 over and over in every combination but I can't get Maxwell Render to find the Materials Database folder. I have to manually direct it through the Bitmaps browser under Render Options after it initially fails to render because it can't find the matching textures. I have the latest plugin and I assign the material through the materials box in SU and then also assign the desired mxm material from the maxwell material window. But on export Maxwell Render looks for the texture images in every other place.
Two years of this now and I am getting sick of it. Help please.

Do you have the textures in the root directory of the textures folder you have selected? I had the same problem trying to put folders into the textures folder in previous versions of Maxwell.

Here is what I did...

Use search feature within Windows, and then find all images using the ".jpg" ".bmp" ".png" etc. once you have found each file type, drag or copy them from the search window into the root folder of the textures directory.

Thanks for the help. I did all that but still nothing. I have to redirect Maxwell Render to the Materials folder each time I start a render after it fails initially.

I admit that since the Maxwell 1.5 upgrade that I still haven't tweaked everything properly yet for rendering directly out of Sketchup.

I found that I need to disable the autoconvert option in the SU export options dialog. I am then applying all my materials in Studio, because I have access to all the Maxwell options there. Note that I don't apply any Maxwell materials in sketchup at all. If you scale a bitmaped texture in sketchup, it will carry over the UV mapping in Studio. You are also able to see HDRI background mapping in studio which I like a lot.

Pelias may fill us in on what we can do to fix this, but to trouble shoot on your own, I suggest you read the manual and test exporting with one material and one object.

There is a simple solution to this problem in the new version of the plugin - you can specify the search folder for textures right on the SU Maxwell export dialog now...
