Exporting from SU is taking a long while. Granted, my model is fairly big (961,477 faces), but it's going on 31 min and it's only at 30%.

Is there any way the exported speed could be kicked up a notch? Unfortunately, with these export speeds there is no way I can do test renders. I hope I guessed right with my settings.

I'll post what I came out with tomorrow.

Well, I had hoped to post a progress pic, but when I woke up this morning at 7 AM, I saw that the rendering had been going for only about 2 hours.

That means the export took an eye popping 5-1/2 hours!!! I'm sure its because my model is fairly large, but geez.

It has to be the number of faces in the model that makes the export slow. I just did another project (only 9K faces) and it exported in less than a second.

In any case, here's the 5.5 hour export / 2 hour render WIP:

I'm pretty sure the culprits are the spider connectors for the glass. They each have a bunch of faces to them.

Of course, C&C welcome.

No, I didn't export to obj. I went right to maxwell from withing SU, using the plugin.

What I normally do however is export as 3ds, which only takes a few seconds, and then import in 3ds max. From there, I texture and render with maxwell.
