thought I make a small list of my render problems in maxwell. Not all related to Sketchup but that is what I use to model. I also use a Mac, OSX and an 8-core intel processor with 4Gb ram.
1. instances, on import into Studio, are lost in space and rescaled (smaller). I also can not select any component in Studio.
2. glass reflects weird when I duplicate and mirror a component.
3. network does not work or I do not know how to get it to work, it takes me too much time to sort it out.
4. displacement materials have to be carefully positioned in SU. Also I have to devide triangles and rectangulars to make displacement mappings look good. Displacement is slow to render and hard to understand as far as precision is concerned. I just type in something and see what happens, anything from 10 to 5000. I have no clue what it should be other than trial and error.
Maxwell for me is 90% troubleshooting and 10% actual data imput to set up a scene. A pity for such a great application.
