I've just the same problem...

There's got to be a better way to organise Maxwell materials bearing in mind that people will be downloading and installing new mats all the time...

Also, the problem is worse if you work on both a Mac and a PC when transferring projects between machines.

1) open the .mxm-File with the Material Editor.
2) A widow apear. The editor can't find the texture. Choos the path of the missing Texture
3) Importent: Save the Materal again. The new Path will saved too.
4) Make this step for each Material

it seems to be an unsolvable problem for nl to program some kind of path list for textures - like 3dsmax has for instance...
...is this little function really that hard to code? :roll:
