I haven't seen more than 100 and think there will be about 20 to 40 projects really worth considering for the second stage. I must say the combination of the ideas of several plans seems interesting.

I thought that a small bridge in connection to Asplund and a walkway underneath to the park is interesting, I came up with that myself during the project but rejected it because I thought that idea lacked the quality to provide for a united new building to be seen as one with Asplund. Now looking at the submission I have to admit many did come out well with such a bridge.

Most plans are masterpieces of their own without much connnection to Asplund or even the city. Many also do not really embrace Asplund as an important part of the scheme and focus completely to the new building or buildings. I find many without the annexes much better than those with especially when I see a new building cramped in between the annexes and Asplund.

I will go to the exhebition to have a look. I am no longer thinking I have a winning plan and so I am also going to enjoy Stockholm and the surroundings this time but spend an afternoon at the exhibit.

yes rejected the small walkway to asplund's in favor of a full connected building... might lead to rejection from the jury if they want to preserve asplund's work at all cost.

would love to go there but no time ( kids , work, snowboarding :)

saw your submission, impressive work, great combination of SU and Maxwell.

Looking at the submissions I am beginning to realise they are going for the bridge to Asplund approach. Design that are located close to the original Asplund the harder it gets to accept such a design in relation to the also good looking proposals that keep Asplund as much as it is.

I have by now not the slightest hope left about the outcome and so that was the Asplund competition for me. I loved my time in the competition and will look foreward to see the winning designs later in Feb next year. 1100 is just a bit too much to go over and I see so many that would work out fine for a new library.

Sorry, I haven't checked in for the last few days.

Grizzly is codename for a piece of SU6 (might be sold separately), it is a page layout app linked to the SketchUp model via scalable viewports. Think of it like AutoCAD's paperspace layouts but with live SketchUp models.

No more AutoCAD for me if it works well.

thnx for appreciation :)
I think i saw yours too..
Indeed we'll see what is good for the jury... my approach could be bounced off in a simple column in excel > touched asplund building Y / N. Or could be of interest.. Since they have so many answers, they are likely to do a first batch of rejected entries with simple basics Y/N questions.

I have also seen very interesting projects, well mastered!

i saw many of them and yes they are a real thread to our submissions .....lol.

i feel now as i feel before, simple designs do better next to Asplunds simple square block and round shape. Also I feel spatial designs do better than the ones with low ceilings and underground pathways.

I think most designs are too smallish compared to the new ideas how future libraries are going to function as a cultural hub in the cities. I also think most designs are too much a standalone next to Asplund leaving the staff wondering where they should be, in the new extension or in the old building.

Still, there is no saying what direction the jury s going to take, 5 winners around the same theme or all completely different. I did not see designs that where clearly of a experienced and long time well know architectural firm or any typical Zaha or Meyer or Piano or Libeskind although there are some lookalikes.

The Maxwell submissions are easily found by their typical skies. Speaking of skies, I wish I had some control over the horizon, mine always turn out a bit magenta/whitish. Wish I could alter that in a more grayish or blueish kind of transition. Maybe I should play with the settings.
