Hi!

I don´t dare to install mw v1.0, since the results (except for glass) with rc5 are ok....
Has anyone heard anything about an update for the su - plugin?

You definately won't be sorry for upgrading-- V1 is a big improvement.

As for the plugin, it works the same. It will corectly use your SU textures without effort on your part. But applying Maxwell textures should be done in the studio. I was reluctant to use the studio at first but have overcome my objections since there are so many things you can do there that can't be done from the plugin.

I now build the basic model/lights/scene in SU, apply different colors to surfaces I want to have unique materials, do a quick render, and finally import the resulting msx into studio and continue from there.

By the way, that's not to say the V1 is perfect--there are several things that still don't work right. If nothing else, though, you will be pleased with the material browser and much shorter render times.

The main problems in su2mxs v1 are related to the ”beta style” material setup. That is the same problem as in RC5. On the other hand you can now link directly to mxm materials, and access the material editor from SU.
With Hrothgars SketchRender script you can now improve your workflow dramatically. You can now link materials in the SU materials library to mxm materials, and those linked materials are assigned semi-automatically (by select all, Assign Materials). It still has some limitations (only works properly with one SU folder, and all selected faces should have linked materials), but I am sure Hrothgar can solve these issues with some encouragement from the community here .
Since I started using only linked mxm materials I haven’t had the “black faces” problem.
I would recommend updating to v1.0.
I believe there is a new improved version under construction, but I don’t know when it will be available.
