We have just installed Maxwell on a suite of computers within a college. We are experiencing a number of crashes with two of the computers .
One computer is close to min spec but still above it.
3gb ram
Processor Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU 6400 @ 2.13GHz, 2133 Mhz, 2 Core(s),
Win 7 Version 6.1.7601 Service Pack 1 Build 7601

The computer crashes when you try to interact with imported geometry i.e. when you select it or try to add a material. You can rotate or pan it in the viewport you can start fire and render it but any attempt to move or add materials to geometry crashes Maxwell studio. The geometry was simple basic shapes such as cubes or spheres made in Rhino and imported into studio as .3ds

I would tend to think this would have to do with the graphics card and possibly its drivers in this case. I would try first:

- to see if it happens with any model/geometry. Try importing some default objects from the library (File>Library) and applying a material.
- to see if it happens with any material or a specific one.
- to see if it happens when the viewport is set to either bounding box or wireframe.

If you use a bounding box Maxwell studio does not crash. Any other type of rendering in the interactive window e.g. wireframe will crash the Using library objects it still crashes If you use bounding box everything works ok you can apply materials and it renders properly what does this suggest. This computer has Intel graphics media accelerator driver

Hi,

in Studio, try to deactivate Vertex Buffers:

File->Preferences->Viewport Rendering->Performance->Vertex Buffers (uncheck it).

Hope this helps.
Cheerios.
