I'm probably out of luck, but I seem to not be able to merge an MXI from a previous release and a new rendering. Am I right, or does anyone know of something I can do to merge these?

The camera, the resolution, and the multi-light settings are the same. I noticed though that "physical sky" is not called "sky", and "image based lighting" is not called "IBL" on the sliders. Maybe thats why

yes, mxi files are not directly compatible for merging between versions, and thats why it won't allow you to merge them, but...

if you didn't use extra sampling and you re-save (open and save again) the old mxi in the new version of maxwell, it could work

thanks nachob. I tried re-saving the old one and it didn't work, although I seem to have another merging issue

I just tried merging two new ones I rendered in the last few days, and I got an error. I've checked the image settings. I don't know if this has anything to do with the fact that I tinkered with the multilight sliders, although I made sure they had the same settings when I saved both of them before trying to merge

It also checks number and type of channels. If there is no difference in any of those we would like to take a look to the mxi's but there will probably be a difference between them.

I checked the channels and one of them had the Material Id enabled. I deselected it and then saved. I also saved the emixer data and loaded it into both of them and saved.

It still had the merging error

I uploaded the files to weTransfer if you can take a look: http://we.tl/yensPn3ky4

thanks for your help

Deselecting a channel in the render options panel and saving MXI has no effect on the channels saved on the MXI. It only affects to the render proccess. We will check the files you send.

I forget to answer. As I said, saving MXI deselecting a channel has no effect on the MXI contents, it only affects to the render proccess. You can't merge MXIs with different channelsets, sorry.
