I´m trying to find answer to this question: "Is recommended to leave ON the interpoation in all yours maps and materials? It slows down the render times? and why?"

I supose that it´s due to the AA work from the render engine but I don´t know really what´s the explanation about it, it´s only for HDRI and Displacement maps? or even no one?

I read this bellow searching in the forum something like this, but I don´t know if it is only for this kind of maps ... or what...

"Also, as a side note -- turn off Interpolation for the displacement (if you don't already), it slows down the render and doesn't seem to contribute much if you have a high quality map already."

And the last question is sharpness has realation with this kind of stuff? sharpness reduces render times?

Please can somebody explain me it? Mihai, Tom or somebody....

Said by whom? makes no sense...

Neither sharpness nor interpolation increase render times, interpolation can reduce render times in some situations.

Thanks Eric!!!

I think was Jason Maraton somewhere here at the forum, but no matter...

Grant warwick said me this about the Blur on textures speaking about 3ds Max Bitmaps loaded in other renderers:

"When you blur the texture map, the contrast between each pixel is reduced. A reduction in contrast from one pixel to the next means less work for the AA engine. A tiny amount of blurring is sometimes enough to raise that difference .01% however when you blur the textures, detail is lost."

Eric... Is something similar in maxwell render? What kind of situations you refer and it is advisable to turn it on all maps?

Thanks in advance!!!

I guess it may become needed with some bump maps, otherwise dont overthink it.. its just interpolation, and its quite a subtle effect if the map has enough resolution. I generally turn it on.

You might want to avoid bad tutorials / forum posts, I guess its tough with a language barrier. Develop your 'third eye' as a filter, also discount anything from marketing departments  esp spanish ones...
