I found myself trying to map a grayscale 'granite' texture to the Reflection 0 (and 90) inputs of a wizard 90% Iron and I was having quite a hard time seeing any effect, so I messed around with the material until I saw that 'force fresnel' was the reason. I actually spent quite a while tracking down what I thought at first was a bug.
Then, having identified the issue, I watched
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yInBpKsxad4
which was good, but I think that trying to map a grayscale or colored checkerboard of a single hue to various materials with force fresnel off, and then on, might be a good additional way to explain it, because you have color and luminosity varying within the same render, not from one render to the next.
What do you think?
I'd make a video about it, myself, but I still feel a little shaky on the topic.
