My sss white plastic render looks great in Fire rendered at 2k, but when I send to Maxwell Render at 6k sss shader looks much more translucent and much darker. Do I need to compensate for the increased resolution? i.e. is the sss effect resolution dependent? or is this a Fire problem/limitation? I don't expect them to be identical but at least in the same ball park.

Thanks.

I'm comparing looks at around 10-12 sl. I have now managed to match the result in Fire by tripling my coefficient and saturating my attenuation and scattering colours. However it would be nice to use Fire for balancing all lights and shaders confident that when you send these to render you get the same result even for SSS.

With Maxwell 3.1 around the corner I would say this is even more important now. Have any improvements been made to Fire to allow fine tuning of SSS or skin SSS? If not maybe a Fire option to prioritise SSS when working in a heavy SSS workflow would be preferable.

What you see in Renderman video is not the same SSS approach with Maxwell's. So, it can give predictable results in early samples. Maxwell is using a very expensive computation which can only converge in late samples. On the other hand, we are working on a dedicated multilayer skin approach which would give similar results.
