I am very new to Maxwell and am having problems working out how to import textures and allocating a category for them. Just how DO I go about it?

How does that allow me to place textures into a category for selection? Not intending to sound stupid but that is what I was after...

It doesn't. You should do it yourself using folders with the help of your operating system.

If that is the case and I am not saying otherwise, why did you make a pointless response? Please only answer the questions asked rather than giving answers you like, thanks.

Why don't you make a feature request under Wish List section? Verbal abuse cannot help.

1. What wish item?

2. What verbal abuse?

I talk simply because I find it is easier to get across language barriers, I also ask questions when someone misses a point which is what you did. If that is verbal abuse perhaps you had better get me banned before I do something daft like ask another question. I think you need to grow a thicker skin or take up a hobby.

You titled your thread "material categories"
Are you actually asking how to import materials and set up the categories within your material library ?

I think Tom meant to say "It doesn't... sound stupid" not "It doesn't allow you to place textures...." He answered your question.

OK, I am not making this reply to stoke any problems, rather to explain further so there is no confusion. I asked a question, Tom made a throwaway response which did not answer that question.

I then clarified the point in my question that was most important and Tom Then answered my first question.

At this point I asked Tom why he had responded as he had when I first asked the question and Toms response was to suggest my post was abusive.

Everything since then has been people chiming in with posts which miss the original point by a country mile which is OK I suppose because of the language barrier. I have a point to make because if you are NOT going to answer a question and are trying to labour a point, why answer at all? Tom eventually answered my question which by the way, I found an answer to elsewhere.

I talk plain as I have said because when there is a language or culture barrier any obfuscation confuses the issue at hand. Perhaps the musical point is better at this and reading of all posts should be sotto voce in one's own mind, rather than taking an angry tone and offence at everything. OK now?

so what do you want to hear...? The answer is, that there is no special texture folder organisation in maxwell.
As Tom said you have to do it yourself by setting up a folder structure (or just keep it simple and place every used texture in the same folder).

Man, you cannot demand the correct answer. This is a conversation, maybe people don't understand what you are asking for at first try (maybe because of that language or culture barrier you talk about). I know this people for some years of reading this forum and they are quite smart and meticulous. If you provide them with good information of what you want they'll most probably give you the correct answer.

Mike, there's no language or cultural barrier at all. Plus, we are not making a deep conversation on philosophy. You make a question, I make an answer and of course, you don't have to buy it. But, degrading it to a "pointless response" is bold. Beginning your words with "I am very new to Maxwell..." and ending up with "you're giving answers you like and they are pointless" is a tragedy in a respectful dialog. I just imagine you should be heavily frustrated with not being able to organize your textures. Maxwell, this forum and I are perfectly out of this circle. For this reason, my initial response was a link to the corresponding topic in the user manual. Because, we've already documented the available features. Forum is not a paid VIP area you can freely yell. We are all friends here trying to help each other. That is the point if we're after one. ;)
